Super Mario Galaxy
Get all 120 stars and defeat Bowser again. After two Mario games ("Super Mario 64" and "Super Mario Sunshine") without Luigi as a playable character, Nintendo finally put Luigi back in. Luigi is rescued by Mario at some point in the game, but this does not allow the player to use him to play through the whole game. Mario must collect all 120 stars and ask Rosalina to let him battle Bowser again. If he defeats him, the player may play as Luigi.
Manta Ray. This Power Star challenge is titled "Surfing 101", and it is the only Star in the Loopdeeloop Galaxy. The penguins at the galaxy love to surf on rays, so they teach Mario how. With the help of Wii Remote motion capabilities, Mario surfs down a tricky course while the penguins cheer him on. If he gets a good enough time, he will receive a Power Star for his efforts.
A Luma enables him. At the beginning of the game, Mario is tasked with finding and catching three rabbits that are actually well disguised Lumas. After he catches all three, he is given a Luma to live inside of him that gives him abilities such as the spin move. A brief cameo after Power Stars are collected shows Mario removing his cap. Upon removing it, the Luma exits his body as if to take a breath of fresh air.
Good Egg Galaxy. The Good Egg Galaxy is a scattered galaxy with several different floating planetoids that tend to be aimed more at teaching Mario the basics of different situations. The first Power Star that Mario is challenged with is actually a boss fight against the Dino Piranha. He experiences some strange gravity inside the pill shaped capsule that he reaches via a launch star. In some zones of the capsule he gravitates towards the ceiling!
The Comet Observatory. The Comet Observatory is where Mario can travel to every level. To power it, he needs to collect Power Stars and Grand Stars. Rosalina (watcher of the stars) tells him that if he can power the observatory so that it may move again, he can save Princess Peach. She has once again been abducted by Bowser. Bowser's final battle takes place at the center of the universe, which Mario can access once the Comet Observatory has enough star power.
Lumas. Lumas come in different colors and play different roles. Some are "Hungry Lumas" that will reward Mario for feeding them. Some are Lumas that can transform for Mario if he can do a favor or complete a task for them. They are in just about every corner of the game and will come in quite handy if you have enough Star Bits!
First, I knew that some of the level design consisted of a kind of 3D object that might be called a 3D circle. Mario has the ability to walk all around them. What kind of object am I talking about? | "Super Mario Galaxy" Pre-Knowledge
|
Sphere . Mario finds himself running and jumping all around all sorts of planets, including spheres. Some planets get very interesting. One is a capsule with alternating gravity on the inside! Mario will have to get accustomed to this if he wants to take down Bowser!
5 . The five enemies are: Dino Piranha and King Kaliente in the Good Egg Galaxy, The larger Mandibug and the Big Bad Bugaboom in the Honeyhive Galaxy, and Megaleg in Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor. Another star can be obtained by defeating Dino Piranha when a Speedy Comet is in orbit. A Speedy comet requires you to complete a previous mission in a certain amount of time. King Kaliente will also appear again as the boss of Bowser Jr.'s Lava Reactor in the Engine Room. Also if you beat Shadow Mario in a race throughout the Honeyhive Galaxy, when a Cosmic Comet is in orbit, you can get another star. There is a total of sixteen stars to be found in the Terrace, including the Sweet Sweet Galaxy.
After reaching a certain point in the game, a hungry Luma will appear outside the Terrace and will ask for Star Bits. If you feed it enough it will transform into the Sweet Sweet Galaxy. Remixed music from what Mario game plays in this galaxy? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - The Terrace
|
Super Mario Bros. 3. "Rocky Road," the star from this galaxy, also holds a top ten spot to "Nintendo Power." Referred to as "The Gauntlet," this star has you traversing over several series of platforms with different designs of holes. If you fall down a hole, it's one life gone. The Sweet Sweet Galaxy is a "special galaxy", which are considered some of the hardest stars to get.
Bowser Jr. is the boss of the Terrace and he decides to use Megaleg against you. How many Bullet Bills are needed to defeat Megaleg if you just run and don't jump? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - The Terrace
|
Three. Three seems to be a common factor in the Nintendo universe. Megaleg was voted as one of the top ten moments of "Super Mario Galaxy," by "Nintendo Power". This was because you actually fought on top of the boss. Once you get to the boss' weak point, it's head, you need to get a Bullet Bill to chase you so that you can lead it to the glass dome holding the Grand Star. After doing this a metal gate will surround the Grand Star and the glass dome will regenerate. Once again you need to get a Bullet Bill to chase you. One to destroy a section of the gate, and another to break the glass dome.
Painting the Planet Yellow. The Flipswitch Galaxy, is probably one of the smaller galaxies as it resembles three sides of a cube. The goal in "Painting the Planet Yellow," is to make every blue Flipswitch turn yellow, which can be done by stepping on it. Once every Flipswitch has been triggered, a star will appear on the "top" of the cube.
Five. The Loopdeloop Galaxy, is one of the many Item Box galaxies that you can get one star in. This galaxy requires you to surf a course on a Manta Ray by pressing A and tilting the Wiimote to steer. Later on, you will encounter another galaxy called the Loopdeswoop Galaxy, which is an advanced version of this galaxy.
After you collect the first star in the Honeyhive Galaxy, you will find that the planet is being plagued by rival bugs. What are the names of the rival bugs? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - The Terrace
|
Mandibugs . The Mandibugs are purple, charge you, and have big gold metallic jaws. They are pretty easy to predict and can be taken out with a ground pound. IN the star titled "Big Bad Bugaboom," you must battle a larger green, it does turn red after the first hit, Mandibug that can fly. You must ground pound it three times to defeat it.
After beating the first half of the game, a Purple comet will appear above the Good egg Galaxy. How many purple coins do you obtain while flying to and from Launch Stars? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - The Terrace
|
60. There are 20 purple coins between each Launch Star path. Purple comets require you to collect 100 purple coins, usually at a greater difficulty than the other stars you collected. Once you collect 100 purple coins, a star will appear somewhere in the stage. The purple coins in the Good Egg Galaxy ate fairly easy to collect as they are all in a path on each planet and in between Launch Stars.
a ? coin. The orange pipe can be found on the underside of the first planet. You will see a ? coin, which once activated, will form a path of musical notes. Collect all the notes before time is up, and a 1-up mushroom will appear.
Five. Five is the number of galaxies that can be found in most rooms. The five galaxies that can be found in the Terrace are: Good Egg Galaxy, Honeyhive Galaxy, Flipswitch Galaxy, Loopdeloop Galaxy, and Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor.
Purple Comets are special comets that will eventually go by nearly every galaxy in the game. When one is in orbit, you will have to collect purple coins in that galaxy. How many per galaxy? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - Lumas and Comets
|
100. If you follow the storyline and visit levels in order, you should first come across the 100 purple coins when you are trying to unlock the flying power-up. Once you get all 100 there, you can access the red star that allows you to fly in various areas of the Comet Observatory. In the other galaxies, the coins are either spread out and hidden throughout the galaxy or they are in a line but surrounded by obstacles. If you really want a challenge, try the Toy Time Galaxy when a Purple Comet is in orbit, but make sure you have 99 lives because more than likely, you will need them!
As you experience more and more comets, you will begin to know what to expect from them. After about two visits to Daredevil Comet galaxies, you will probably know what's coming, but in one Daredevil Comet galaxy, the game throws you a curveball. Which galaxy is it? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - Lumas and Comets
|
Melty Molten Galaxy. Under normal circumstances, when a Daredevil Comet is in orbit, you will start the level right in front of a boss area with only one hit point on your life meter and no coins anywhere to refill it. In the Melty Molten Galaxy (the galaxy that you need the most power stars to open, next to the final Bowser galaxy), however, you have to go through the entire level with only one hit point and no way to refill it. Thankfully, at the end of this level, there is no boss.
The Fast Foe Comet does just what it sounds like it would do. It causes all enemies in a level to speed up. You will know when this kind of comet is over a galaxy because it will be what color? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - Lumas and Comets
|
Yellow. The Fast Foe Comet is the least occurring comet on the game. Unfortunately, it occurs on levels that contain enemies such as Thwomps which can crush you and cause you to lose a life instantly. When encountering a Fast Foe Comet, you have to be very quick with your reflexes.
The blue comet is the Cosmic Comet, red is the Speedy Comet, and grey is the Daredevil Comet. The Purple Comet is, of course, purple.
Reminiscent of "Super Mario Sunshine", one of the comets causes a shadow Mario to appear. When this happens, you have to race him to a power star (not always an easy task). Which comet is it that causes you to enter this race? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - Lumas and Comets
|
Cosmic Comet. The Cosmic Comet is one of the more exciting comets on the game. Shadow Mario is fast and smart, so it is quite a challenge to beat him. However, it is extremely satisfying once you have done so.
By the way, there is a button combination that you can push that allows Mario to get out to a head start in this situation. Play around and discover what it is for yourself!
Five. For those of you who said four, you may not have beaten the game yet. The fifth comet, the Purple Comet, appears only after you have beaten the game. The comets turn levels that may at first have seemed easy into something challenging.
While you are in the main area of the Comet Observatory, there is a Luma that is always next to Rosalina. This particular Luma is unique because it is the only one that is this color. Which one? | "Super Mario Galaxy" - Lumas and Comets
|
Black. The black Luma is also found when you go inside each of the observatories. In the Terrace, the first observatory you enter, it explains to you how to use pull stars to view all of the galaxies that you can see within that particular observatory.
At the end of the game, Luigi becomes a playable character but Peach didn't seem to have noticed, as she keeps sending the letters to Mario. To compensate the mistake, what does the Mailtoad give to Luigi? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
Twenty 1-Up Mushrooms. When the Mailtoad realizes that the letter was addressed to Mario and not to Luigi, he gives him twenty 1-Up Mushrooms instead of the usual five he gave to Mario. Mailtoad is usually near the beginning of the game.
Which Mario enemy is a key to get the hidden star at the Gusty Garden Galaxy? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
Chain Chomp. In the hidden star at the Gusty Garden Galaxy "The Golden Chomp", you must collect all of the flying "?" coins to get a Rainbow Star. With this, you may break all of the chomps in the following planet, and when you break the Golden one, you get a Power Star.
Four . Bowser Jr. makes four appearances on four different galaxies. You fight with him in only one of them: Bowser Jr's Airship Armada. He is present in Bower Jr's Robot Reactor (in where you have to destroy giant robot Megaleg), Bowser Jr's Lava Reactor (although you don't fight him, but King Kaliente once again) and at Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, where he has Peach captured.
When you enter the several domes around the Observatory, you will usually find the black Luma, Polari, waiting for you there. In one specific dome, you will also find a Gearmo walking around. Which dome is it? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
Engine Room. In you enter the Engine Room Dome, you will find a friendly Gearmo walking by the dome, as well as the usual Polari. This can be pretty reasonable, since Gearmos appear along the game doing reparations in several mechanical galaxies.
After getting a specific number of stars, you'll be getting a new chapter from a storybook you can read at the library. After finishing it, it is clearly obvious it was the history of which character all along? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
Rosalina. After you finish reading the story at the library, it is pretty obvious the book was about Princess Rosalina's childhood and arrival and building of the Observatory. The clothes, hair and face traits of the girl are very similar to Rosalina itself, and we get the fully understanding when she tells us, after reading the last chapter, that her story was finished.
The most Star Bits a hungry Luma asks you for is 1,600. What happens if you give them to her? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
The Snow Cap Galaxy is formed. If you give 1,600 Star Bits to the hungry Luma that appears outside the Garden, she will transform into the Snow Cap Galaxy and a pink launch star will appear in front of you. This is usual with these Lumas.
Which of the levels of the Freezeflame Galaxy is the one in which you get the Fire Mario power-up for the first time? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
Conquering the Summit. The first level to contain the Fire Mario power up is the secret star of the Baron Brr level, "Conquering the Summit". If you climb the water fountains and use the launch star, you will find a frozen Fire Flower. You must use it to destroy several blocking snowmen along the way.
There are only two galaxies in the whole game in which you can play a Fast Foe comet. One of them is the Toy Time Galaxy. Can you name the other one? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
Beach Bowl Galaxy. There are only two galaxies in the whole game in which you can play the Fast Foe Comet: Toy Time Galaxy and the Beach Bowl Galaxy.
One of the characteristics these two galaxies have, and one of the main reasons their comet is the Fast Foe one, is that they contain levels with Thwomps and Thwimps, which immediately kill you if you happen to be under them at the wrong moment.
You battle two bosses while you are at Good Egg Galaxy. What are their names? | Super Mario Galaxy
|
Dino Piranha and King Kaliente. Good Egg Galaxy is one of the few galaxies to have two bosses on it. The first one appears on the task "Dino Piranha", in which you obviously defeat the enemy with the same name, and at "King Kaliente's Battle" you defeat a giant lava octopus with the name of King Kaliente.
