Answer: Atlanta Braves

In 1907 and 1908 this franchise was called the Doves. They finished 6th and 7th place those two years while being managed by Fred Tenney. The current Atlanta franchise was Boston grown.
2. How many times did Houston win more than 100 games in a season, during the 1980s and 90s?

Answer: 1

In their stellar year of 1998 they punched out 102 times against 60 losses but only good enough to win the National League Central division. Larry Dierker was at the helm and the team was led by Shane Reynolds, Jose Lima, and Randy Johnson.
3. Which of the following teams did Billy Martin NOT manage in his career?

Answer: Baltimore Orioles

Martin managed 5 different ballclubs through his "You're fired, wait, you're rehired" era. He started with the 1969 Minnesota Twins, then 1971,1972, and 1973 with Detroit but was fired midseason in '73. The Texas Rangers hired him to finish off the season and to manage the 1974 and 1975 Texas team. Under the arm of George Steinbrenner he managed the Yankees from '75-'79.

He was fired and picked up with the Oakland A's until the end of the 1981 season where he was fired at Oakland. In 1983 Steinbrenner brought him back to the Pinstripes and fired him at the end of that season. Dejavu in 1985 and 1988 with the Yankees again.

He died in 1989.

The Pilots became the Milwaukee Brewers after only one season in baseball. It took the franchise 10 seasons to finish the season with a .500 record.
6. The Texas Rangers were born from which of the following teams?

Answer: Washington Senators

The Senators had the franchise from 1961-1971. In 1972 the team moved to Texas where they became a much better ball club. Their first manager was Ted Williams and they won 4 Division Titles during the remainder of the 20th Century.
7. Which of the following managers helmed the Dodgers?

Answer: Walter Alston

Alston had the reins for 23 seasons from 1954-1976 giving the Dodgers 2,040 wins before becoming ill, then giving the keys to Tom Lasorda who managed them for another 21 seasons. Wilburt Robinson managed the team for 18 seasons from 1914-1931.
8. Which of the following pitchers led the other three pitchers in career starts, with 815?

Answer: Cy Young

Young's career win-loss record is 511-316 and holds numerous records in baseball history. He started his career with the Spiders of Cleveland and ended it with the Boston Braves.
9. In what year did the Braves win their first World Series in franchise history?

Answer: 1914

The Boston Braves finished with a 94-59 record to advance them to the World Series against the Philadelphia Athletics. The Braves beat them 4 games to 0 under the helm of George Stallings.
10. The Cleveland franchise began with what team name?

Answer: Blues

They were all of these but initially were the Blues when the franchise started in 1901. In 1902 they became the Cleveland Bronchos for only one year. From 1903-1914 the team was called the Naps. 1915 was the Indians year for the rest of the Century.
