Answer: Baltimore Orioles

The original Baltimore Orioles club were founder members of the American League in 1901, and moved to New York in 1903. Their first nickname in the Big Apple was the Highlanders, with the famous Yankees name being adopted in 1913. The team called the Baltimore Orioles who were members of the American League in 2010, are no relation whatsoever to the team which evolved into the Yankees.

Answer: Franz Beckenbauer

Beckenbauer made his Bayern Munich debut in 1974, and won virtually every major honour in the game, including three consecutive European Champions Cups in the 1970s. He made his international debut for West Germany in 1965, and captained them to victory in the 1974 World Cup.

He was appointed national team coach in 1984, and became the first person to both captain and coach a World Cup winning team when they triumphed in Italy in 1990.

Becker was aged just 17 when he won his first Wimbledon title in 1985. The unseeded German defeated Anders Jarryd in four sets in the semis, before defeating Kevin Curran in the final, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4.

The Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship four times in the 1950s/60s, but the nearest they came to a Super Bowl in the 20th century was to reach the AFC Championship game three times in the late 1980s. On each occasion, they were defeated by the Denver Broncos.

Badminton was first played by British army officers in India during the 19th century, and was originally called Poona. When the game was introduced to the UK, the official launch was at Baminton House, home of the Duke of Beaufort, and the new name was adopted.

Braddock won the World Heavyweight title in 1935, defeating Max Baer. He lost the title to Joe Louis in 1937 at Comiskey Park. New York sportswriter Damon Runyon christened him "Cinderella Man" after he rebounded from a difficult start to his professional career.

The Victoria Bushrangers are based in Melbourne, and won Australia's premier cricketing title, the Sheffield Shield, for a 27th time in 2009. The Bulls are Queensland's cricket team, the Brumbies are a rugby union team from Canberra, and the Bombers is the nickname of the Essendon Aussie Rules team.

Braid, from Earlsferry in Fife, Scotland, won his first Open in 1901, and his fifth, and last, in 1910. Among the famous courses designed by him are the King's Course at Gleneagles, Dalmahoy, and the remodeled Carnoustie Links.

The Black Bears are members of the America East Conference in most sports, the exceptions being Hockey East (Ice Hockey) and the Colonial Athletic Association (Gridiron). By far the most successful of their teams in the 20th century was their ice hockey team, which won National Championships in 1993 and 1999.

Beamon won the gold medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. His winning jump was measured at 8.90 metres. His record wasn't broken until 1991 when Mike Powell leaped for 8.95 metres in Tokyo.
