After winning a large pot in a poker game and telling the other players he was going to use the money to buy his daughter a bike for Christmas, Lana's father was found murdered. Johnny Stompanato . Remember the scene in "L.A. Confidential" where Guy Pierce's character thinks Lana is a hooker because she is sitting with Stopanato, a known mob figure? "A hooker cut to look like Lana Turner is still a hooker." "That is Lana Turner." Makes me laugh every time!
Peyton Place. Look for Russ Tamblin, star of "West Side Story" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", who plays Norman, the shy boy in town. David Nelson of "Ozzie and Harriot" fame is also in this film. By the way, Joanne Woodward won the Oscar that year for "The Three Faces of Eve."
Sean Connery. This was eleven films before "Dr. No," the first James Bond film that made Sean Connery a star.
Falcon Crest. Lana played the role of Jacqueline Perrault. She was in her sixties, but was still stunning.
After Johnny Stompanato's death, most people weren't sure if Lana would still have a career. She answered that with what smash hit film? | The Life and Times of Lana Turner

Imitation of Life. My favorite of her films, "Imitation of Life" was, at the time, the most successful film ever produced by Universal Studios. Of course, Steven Spielberg was still in film school at the time!
