This was in Budapest, in Hungary, when Bernie Ecclestone pulled off a major coup by getting a race held at the Hungaroring. The circuit existed but was brought up to standard. Organised by former military men, well used to giving out orders and expecting them to be met, the race was a success with Nelson Piquet winning.
