Subject: The Official Share a Story Thread

Posted by: Terry
Date: Aug 24 12

If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Everyone moans when it is cold and raining, so you would think when the Sun is out they would be happy.

Think again.

Came by to play and saw maintenance was about to hit. I like the new darker background, it makes it clear.

Someone questioned the fact that 30 degrees is hot. The temperature here yesterday was 31 and today it's 29 but will be 30 within an hour or so but it feels more comfortable today. The level of humidity makes a difference to how comfortable a temperature is and here in the UK hot weather is often accompanied by high levels of humidity. Today I guess the humidity is lower and that's why it feels more comfortable.

4 of the Thai boys trapped in the flooded caves in Thailand have been rescued today. 8 more boys and their coach still to be rescued. It's a race against time because of more rains predicted any time soon. I've created a thread for news of this on the World board.

Here it was 46c (115f) yesterday and that is potentially life threatening. High heat and low humidity will quickly cause dehydration. Severe dehydration can kill. One learns to stay hydrated and seek shelter to survive the desert in summer.

My daughter's boyfriend said it was 47 C in his office yesterday. They worked hard until the afternoon and then couldn't function any more.

Since everyone is complaining about the weather, I will make you all jealous. We are having a lovely stretch of three days of overcast skies and cooler temperatures. Sure beats the heat of last week and the heat to return next week. Wonderful that it occurred on the weekend.

Japan has lost people to floods, and it's just been found that factories in China are using the chemical CFC11 which depletes the ozone layer (which adds to the greenhouse effect) even though it has been banned since 2010.

Yes, I saw the sad news about the floods in Japan. Prime minister Abe had to cancel a trip abroad because of them.

2 Cabinet Ministers resign in the UK over Brexit proposals. A crunch had to come at some time, but there seems to be so much dramatic news happening at once now. I can remember when the Summer was considered a 'slow news' period and news media would have silly stories to fill their pages. It's certainly not slow this Summer.

I have played the Who's the Expert challenge on here several times over the years, but last night something happened on it that I'm pretty sure has never happened to me before.I won the challenge and in so doing I got the same score twice out of the four attempts that counted.Kind of strange I thought, but it worked out for me,so I'll take it! ??
