Subject: The Official Share a Story Thread

Posted by: Terry
Date: Aug 24 12

If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Not going to mention the weather this time.[80 degrees middle winter says it all]. Did not realise how noisy living in the city was,our new home by the lake is peaceful ,the only noise we hear are the 2 kookaburras that laugh almost daily , the magpies so tame they sit on our deck waiting for food and the rosellas sitting on our back fence. Living the dream /// scaramooch

So sad to read and see all the horrific scenes of the fires in Greece.

About five years ago, I had a sweet acacia tree planted in my back yard. I'd always wanted one -- such a pretty fragrance. But I have a pool and was told that they have too much litter to be near a pool. But I ignored the advice and planted the tree. Well yes, a lot of litter -- so much so that I finally decided to have the tree cut down but just hadn't gotten around to it. Then a couple of weeks ago, a huge storm blew through and split the tree in two. Now it's finally gone -- nature did what I didn't!

We came back one day early from a week lon vacation on Price Edward Island. Very glad we did, as it has rained continuously for the last two days. My gardens and the fire fighters farther north are very grateful.

It's hot where I live. When I walk in hot weather, I usually tell myself to make it a shorter walk. Despite this, I end up walking for as long as I do when the weather is cooler.

When I complained that it was hot at 30 c in the UK someone queried me thinking that was hot. The hottest ever temperature in the UK was 38.5 c but this week weather forecasters say that record may be broken - I hope not. Farmers are worried because there has been no significant rainfall for many weeks and many animals have insufficient fresh grass and plants to eat. Farmers are already feeding them with Winter fodder supplies and are concerned that those too may run out. Many crops have died in the heat and there have been fires in the open, but thankfully nothing as devastating as the fires in Greece or some other countries.

It is 31C here today, and we consider that to be delightfully cool for this time of year.

I got busted one time for streaking through my high school from one end to the other, but I wasn't completely naked. I was wearing tennis shoes, a jock strap and a ski mask. I had skipped school that day because I just really didn't feel like going, but somebody somehow knew it was me and they narked on me. Was told later in the principal's office by a detective that if I had been completely naked, I would have been looking at criminal charges. Instead, I was only expelled for a few days.

Now see, if you had done it in the school in the next town over, you would have gotten away with it.

These days, what with cameras everywhere, they might track down a kid who did it from the license plate.

Mixamatosis, 34C is a TYPICAL July or August day where I live. Besides, it's only going to be hot in London for one day! Be glad you don't live in Dallas. It's going to be 39C there today. That's why we Americans drink our beer cold :)
