Wow, solid logic. And obvious in hindsight -- so obvious I didn't think of it. Thanks, both. ... Though it DOES make me think again, I REALLY wish they'd add a "last month's final results" for the two daily games that have Monthly badges -- all the hourly ones do, but there's no "last month" for Mind Melt, Who Am I, etc., so badge or not, you can't tell where you finished in the dailies. I think when the monthly badges began there was different criteria to win the badge. Terry recently cleaned up the Forums a bit and deleted discussions from ten and more years ago. It will be difficult, probably impossible, to find the original posts announcing the monthly badges and what was required to win them. I'm sure there is someone on this site that remembers. And sometimes the coding went a bit wrong and didn't stop at ten, or an extra badge was awarded when someone screamed "not fair I got the same score" or... all sorts of things. I'm still waiting for Terry to fix it so that you only get a monthly badge if you're a) in the top ten who don't have the badge AND b) you're in the top 100 overall, badge or not. The winners for all the recent monthly badges (including the Daily ones) can be found by going to the Challenge page, then to the Monthly badge of interest, and then to the list of recent winners for that badge. So it is easy to find last month's winners for monthly Mind Melt, for example, that way. I briefly perused some of these Monthly badge winners' lists looking to see if I could find a month with more than ten winners in it. I did not, but I have other things to do and even if I couldn't, it might mean only that the months where that happened occurred long enough ago to have scrolled off the list by now. On the other hand, maybe there's someone out there with a lot more patience for scrolling through these lists than I have. If someone can find even one month for one game with more than 10 winners listed, that would definitely clinch this discussion. Anyone out there that can cite chapter and verse, say, in March of 2016, the record shows 11 winners of such-and-such Monthly badge? Reply #666. Feb 09 17, 8:14 AM |

Further reflection seems to indicate the lists of recent monthly badge winners only goes back to May of 2016 as of this writing. Obviously the total numbers of winners is not divisible by 10. But my challenge remains: can anyone find a recent month (since May of 2016) in any Monthly game by scrolling through the lists of recent winners that had more than 10 winners in it? Flopsy's point: "someone screamed not fair, I got the same score!", if it occurred recently, since May of 2016, would most likely reveal itself by showing a Monthly badge winner in a recent month who did not receive their badge on the first day of the month like everyone else, but was awarded it some other day. So if someone could show that a Monthly badge for such-and-such was awarded July 5, 2016, (alone), that would be very illuminating. Reply #668. Feb 09 17, 8:50 AM |

I haven't found what you are looking for, but I have found an anomaly with the Fill Me In monthly winners. Only 9 were awarded at the start of October which means one of two things: Either someone missed getting it that should have had it or There were only nine players eligible for it that month! That would mean all you had to do was play 6 times that month whatever your scores etc and the badge would have been won. I wonder which? Since participation in FMI is nevertheless exactly booming. Interesting. I went to it and can confirm I see only 9 winners for the Monthly FMI badge in October of 2016. That complicates things, actually. Now the lack of divisibility by 10 may be due to multiple factors (some, but not necessarily all suggested in the preceding discussion) and it would be extremely premature to attribute it to ties. Throwing back to my question of not so long ago, it looks like we've got an answer to the Monthly Winner situation of "what if there are more than ten people whose scores qualify for the badge." I was having a glance at the standings for Who Am I?, and the "currently in the lead for this badge" list has eleven names -- there's a tie for tenth place. Obviously it's not the end of the month, but I was wrong -- I had thought the "current leaders" list displayed only ten names. Guess I stand corrected! Reply #673. Feb 17 17, 1:28 AM |

Finally, "Pot of Gold Mastery." What a slog! It's funny, I almost had it yesterday, and came up all of eight coins short, so I spent the next 24 hours being subtly mocked by the "You have earned 49,992 gold coins" line. According to the site, it took me exactly 630 days (that is, plays of the game) to reach and pass the 50,000-coin mark. So I averaged about 79 (coins) a day. Well, at least I can put that game to rest. That was the last Pot Of Gold challenge I had left. The 50K coins one took longer, but the "get all seven daily minis" was MUCH harder! Reply #679.
