I am so glad.Global is back, I've missed it. What is the actual purpose of it? I think I maybe the only one on my team that works it. I try to complete the ** or * ones. Again, thanks.

What is the purpose of the Global Challenge? You could ask the same thing about anything on FunTrivia. The Global Challenge is a *marathon* contest, usually taking around four months to complete. Like most games here on FT, the Global Challenge (or GC, for short) offers a variety of different badges and badgelets for completing various tasks within it. It has been around a very long time, and I would say that its primary attraction is that it *is very long*. The GC is something that takes real commitment to win most of its badges. It's certainly not for everyone, and actually, a bit of exclusivity in that regard may be one of its drawing factors. Would you be interested in exercising your quizmaker muscles in a less demanding way by writing one of those single questions of which the Global Challenge is constructed? Could anyone advise me? A team member thinks they were not allocated the extra 100 points for playing a special subject (indicated *) on Global Challenge. As I've not played that game for a while I played one of those subjects myself today and got the following message. 'Questions correct: 14 / 15 You took 63 seconds to complete this quiz. After adjusting for time taken, your total score: 1337 You earned 100 bonus FunTrivia points and some bonus Challenge points for playing one of this set's adventure categories and scoring at least 500.' Mix, the two are separate entities. The 1337 points is advancement on the global challenge. You also receive an undisclosed amount of advancement for playing the * and ** categories. Progress on the global challenge is only shown to the users in an analogue manner (the bar graphs) so it is difficult to see these bonuses or verify that they have actually been applied. The 100 point bonus is to your actually Fun Trivia score. For example, I have played 5 * or ** global challenge categories today as well as the Brain Twist. I have 700 Fun Trivia points so far today, 500 from the global challenge and 200 for getting at least 50% in the Brain Twist. Reply #5. Feb 26 20, 7:48 AM |

Some scores update after 15 minutes don't they. My scores have changed now but I've played a couple more hourly games. My 'awards for those games totalled 260 but my total points and points today went up by 206. I am a bit confused now - going to have to check out a few more times I think. Reply #10. Mix's difficulties stem from two separate issues which are common to many games, not just the Global Challenge: 1) Confusing in-game points with FT points. A score of 960 on a Duel, for example, earns 160 FT points. The problem is, the term "FT points" is not used in FAQs or other notifications. There it just says points, which confuses people. Bottom line: there are several different types of points, and they shouldn't be confused. FT points, team points, in-game score points, and a few others, are quite different. 2) Awarding of FT points doesn't always show up immediately. Depending on caching issues and what operating system or device a player uses, it may take several minutes from the time FT points are awarded to the time a change in the daily total of FT points is noticed. Tracking down the source of this lag may be difficult and require specialized assistance, perhaps the Forums would be a better venue for that. And this doesn't even consider another commonly-reported problem: failure to notice that certain things that award points do *not* change the daily totals. That is *not* the case in the Global Challenge. There, the 100 points awarded *do* change the daily totals. But points awarded for the Point Tree and certain awards like points for getting a quiz on-line do not change the Daily Totals, though they do change the overall cumulative totals. Of course, in those situations, the FAQs say the daily point total doesn't change, but unfortunately, people frequently miss that and ask about it on the Boards anyway. In any event, it isn't relevant to Mix's problem but I mentioned it because it does come up frequently on the Boards. MiraJane is right, however. There is already a designated thread for Global Challenge issues called the Immortal thread (which she linked to) and which people have asked (and gotten answers for) Global Challenge-related questions for years. I do not know of a delicate way to respond to that, so I am just going to be blunt about it. Sometime one *doesn't notice* points have been awarded when they in fact have due to caching issues or operating system issues. I strongly suspect here that the 100 FT points for playing a GC game were in fact awarded. Can you let us know the answer you receive if you raise this on the forum..nomad-x0 only joined the site this month, so is not as familiar with it as an experienced person.
