There was one. When expecting something, keep checking 'What's New' on the Home Page, first item under 'Today and News'. The entry was made January 6, not sure of the exact time but probably before noon Fun Trivia time since it started with the noon set that day. Reply #4. Jan 08 25, 5:44 PM |

This thread, itself, was a heads up... posted hours before the noon start (which ran for an additional 12 hours), and in a bold type that's hard to miss. It also was to be expected, for anyone who has followed the Global for any length of time. The last one ended just before the holidays, so this one waited for the holidays to be over. The 6th was the first Monday after the holidays. Reply #5. Jan 08 25, 5:58 PM |

Sorry, but what happened is NOT standard procedure for the Global Challenge. Standard procedure is to release the results of the last Global Challenge a couple of weeks before the next Global Challenge starts by putting the results on the Global Challenge page, and including the start date for the next Global Challenge on that page. What happened this time was the results of the last Global Challenge were released at the same time as the new Global Challenge started. I have been following the Global Challenge for over ten years here and have not seen a simultaneous release of old GC results and start of the new GC. I'm not saying admin can't do whatever it wants, but it definitely isn't the way things have been done on the GC before, even in times when the break between GC runs corresponded to the Christmas/New Year holiday break. The usual pattern was to give a couple of weeks' advance notice. Reply #6. Jan 09 25, 4:11 PM |

The amount of time and notice between GCs varies, it always has and probably always will - and the publication of results is more of a movable feast than anything. We try to be consistent but it's not always possible; please remember that even the admins have lives (well, some do) and when we all get busy at once there can be an occasional glitch. Anyway, I've spoken to Terry and we will keep an eye on this GC to see if it needs an extra day or two at the end to make up for people not getting more notice at the beginning. Reply #7. If it seems necessary”. What criteria is that? If enough people make a noise? If I, for example, don’t succumb to narcoleptic sleep attacks and finish top-ish in Division 9 but I’ve played twice every single day, how can I complain if I happened to play 60 more games than last GC for the same result? Such an arbitrary change after (to my knowledge)19 years deserves, IMHO, a bit more consideration than ‘might’ ‘if necessary’. Oh well, 1st World problems! Reply #8. Jan 10 25, 10:38 AM |

For example, we have data on the number of games usually played in a GC, the rate at which players reach certain stages, etc. So, if it looks as though people need an extra day or two to reach the normal parameters then we'll keep it open. Terry often lets a GC run for a few extra days anyway. Reply #9. Jan 10 25, 12:44 PM |

I understand that the mods have lives, but I have to admit my frustration. I chose not to do the last GC, so I eagerly awaited news of this new one. Every day I checked to see when the new one would start. Then I got sick. I checked on Sunday, Jan 5, but then was sick and didn't check again until Tuesday morning January 7, when I started feeling better, and lo and behold! I already missed a set. I just want reach immortality again, so this is going to be a true challenge to get into and maintain a spot in the top 100. If it were easy, it would not be a challenge, right? Reply #11. Many games indicate how many you've won when you're between levels. Does anyone know if there's a way to find out how many times you've been immortal? Reply #12. Feb 23 25, 9:53 AM |

The only way that I can find is to scroll down, on this page (the Global Stats tab within the game), to 'Hall of Fame'. It shows every Global's placement stats, apart from the most recent, which can be seen on the game's home page.![]() You can look through each one, to see how many times you've been in the top 100. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be on the game's challenge page, where it would make things easier for those going for tiers. Reply #13. Feb 23 25, 10:32 AM |

What kind of nonsense is this? It says that I'm at 100% of the way through division 9 but yet I'm still IN division 9 and I'm not immortal yet? What in the heck is that about? Grr! Reply #14. May 01 25, 7:28 PM |

It often happens when transitioning from one level to another. You can see it, but most likely, you are at 99.99, and the system visually rounded you up, but you haven't quite 'made it' to the next level. The next game you play will put you into the next level. As someone who has experienced this many times, over the years, I feel your pain, but it will work out :-) Reply #15. May 01 25, 7:44 PM |

Thank you, postarcds2go. I know I will make it to level 10 this morning! I was just mad at myself because I missed it last night by such a small amount and I was getting tired of the "slog"! :) I'm here with my namesake (coffee, brownie batter flavor), ready to take it on! I just posted this in the forums as well, but it looks like we are up to 102 normal immortals so Terry is welcome to end the Global Challenge. Reply #17. May 19 25, 9:54 AM |

As this GC started with less notice than usual, there will be a little bit of extra time added at the end... This GC will therefore be closed at noon on Wednesday 21 May. Reply #18. May 19 25, 1:40 PM |
