Subject: Worst Book Ever

What is the worst book you have ever read?

I have read two- "Silas Marner" (sorry if I'm offending you if you liked it. I thought it was so weird) and that children's book "The Giving Tree". I about cried when I read that one. If you've never heard of it, you're blessed.

Your thoughts??

You didn't like The Giving Tree?

It was such a great book! Did you not like it because it was sad? I was touched by it, I still am when I read it.

No, I hated that book! I was about in 2nd grade when I first heard it and it was very taumatic for my little mind. =)
But seriously, yes, I didn't like it becuase it was sooo sad. That man was the greedyest(sp?) person on earth and it made me mad.

West to a Land of Plenty is the worst book I have ever read in my intire life. It stunk. My teacher made the class read it because she's practcally in love with it.

The worst chapter I've ever read was the first one in 'Lord of the Flies'! It was so boring!
The worst book has got to be 'Brother in the Land'. It's about Nuclear war and it's just horrible, far too warped for me!

I didn't like "The Old Man and the Sea" either. I don't have much of a taste for Hemingway's writing. "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles is another book I've never liked. I'm going to get bonked on the head by our newest moderator for saying this, but I don't like "The Great Gatsby" either.

It's a toss-up between "Lord of the Flies" and that book by Herman Melville about Moby. (Sorry, I am not being "funny" here. I could not post my original reply because the FunTrivia software won't accept the second word of this title because it has an alternative unacceptable meaning).

I have to say that "Lord of the Rings" would also be in my "Top Ten" list! (Apologies to all the LOTR fans but I just couldn't get into it at all).

I agree with 'Brother In The Land'. We had to read it at school and I hated it! It is so depressing!

I liked "Lord of the Flies" but the one book that I hated in school was "Animal Farm" LAME!

If we can agree to disagree, I think Animal Farm' was very cleverly written, if you take into account the political climate of the time in which it was written.

What was going on in the world of the animals was also happening in human society.

The first time I read Animal Farm, I hated it - but once we'd covered it in depth in English class, I have to agree that it is a very clever satire (is that the word?) on politics.

I liked the book by Melville about Moby. ((LoL)) My worst book is Gone With the Wind.

I tried to read DH Lawrence's "Lady Chatterley's Lover" once. I don't know about smutty but it is certainly turgid.
I also quite enjoyed the tale of Ahab, Queequeg and co. in "Moby D*ck" but its some time since I read it.

I hated having to read D*ckens at school, and haven't ever got over it. I'm one of those people who reads the labels on food packets if there's nothing else to hand, but I have a mental block with Charles. I think it was the long-winded descriptions of everything and everyone that seemed to interrupt every second page.

(Yes, you guessed - just like the Moby references above, it wouldn't let me post D*ckens in all its glory because it read it as profane!)

I just read another terrible book! My sister is addicted to the Ally's World books. I decided to find out what was so good about them. Let's put it this way- I'm still wondering.

My least favorite is Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. It was too slow-moving.

I would have to say that the worst book I have ever had to read is "The Hobbit". It was very, very boring. I have never had to read any of the LOTR books, and I never will read them, or see any of the movies.

The most recent Kay Scarpetta book by Patricia Cornwell. It was a joke. Any other Kay Scarpetta fans read it and think, what the heck happened?
