Atlantis Rising was written by Clive's son, but used his name to get the sales. Reply #143. Mar 15 08, 9:38 AM |

One of the worst books I have ever read is without a doubt "False Memory" by Dean Koontz. It was so bad I never did finish reading it. Very slow moving story and a very stupid plot! BLAH! Reply #146. Apr 15 08, 6:06 PM |

"Maximum Ride: The Final Warning" It DESTROYED the entire series and was nothing but preachy. I have NO IDEA what James Patterson was thinking when he wrote this. I couldn't have been more upset when I finished it. If your a fan of the series do yourself a favor and don't read this book. Reply #147. Apr 15 08, 7:22 PM |

The worst bookS (there is a tie), had to be the Picture of Dorain Gray (I think I spelled it right? Last time I read it I was thirteen, and had nightmares for a week) , and Farewell to Arms. Farewell to Arms seemed very unmoral...the characters and their actions were a shock...and it wasnt a happy book at all. Reply #148. Apr 16 08, 1:35 PM |

Easily "A Tale Of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens was the worst book I ever read or started to read. I could not keep going around the 5th chapter. I wasn't sure it even had a plot of any sort and was very boring. Reply #150. Apr 17 08, 7:13 PM |

Aww...that is sad! A Tale of Two Cities is one of my favorite novels (My favorite ones are the Scarlet Pimpernel and Pride and Prejudice). Sometimes if a book is boring, it helps to get another version with pictures! That usually makes a book more interesting to me...except for the novel the Picture of Dorain Gray...Ive read that one normal, and the picture novel made it much worse...horrible picture in the back. No nothing could make "A Tale Of Two Cities" worth reading. Matter of fact nothing in the world could make me finish reading it! Actually forget that exclamation point it makes it seem too exciting. Reply #152. Apr 27 08, 2:27 PM |

I didn't really care for "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens. I had to read it in high school. I thought it dragged on forever and some of the characters got on my nerves. Reply #154. Sep 03 08, 5:57 PM |

When I was in an honors English class in college, I was forced to read "Black Boy," by Richard Wright. Each day I give thanks that Mr. Wright has gone home to Jesus, and cannot write more books. Reply #155. Sep 03 08, 11:48 PM |

Like exceller, I was twelve or thirteen when I watched a television adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray. I stayed up as long as I could, then went to bed with the light on. Dickens was renowned for creating colourful characters and strong plots, so his books - many of which started life as serialised cliff-hangers - should have been anything but boring. Perhaps the people who couldn't enjoy his books had teachers who lacked the skills to help them navigate the slightly unfamiliar language and idiom, and what is, by modern standards, an over-abundance of punctuation. I wouldn't say it was the "worst" book, but "Vanity Fair" had to be the dullest book I have ever read. I found "Wuthering Heights" incredibly mawkish and couldn't wait to be done with it. Reply #157. Sep 04 08, 10:13 AM |

"As I Lay Dying" by Faulkner. It was a 'must read' at school - I couldn't even finish it. Forced myself to read heaps of others I wasn't interested in but thats the only one I couldn't get into at all! Reply #160. Sep 28 08, 5:45 AM |
