Subject: Worst Book Ever

What is the worst book you have ever read?

I have read two- "Silas Marner" (sorry if I'm offending you if you liked it. I thought it was so weird) and that children's book "The Giving Tree". I about cried when I read that one. If you've never heard of it, you're blessed.

Your thoughts??

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix was by far the worst book i have ever read. It was so bad, it has the honor of being the only book i started and never finished.

I've never had the pleasure of reading a Separate Peace, but all of my friends had to read it for school, and surprise...they hated it! I've never disliked a book. For school, I read Twelfth Night, curtesy of Shakespeare, and enjoyed it.I guess I was juts lucky... for once!

I would probably say that the worst books I've read are Animal Farm, Phantom Toll Booth, Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix.

Animal Farm had lots of symbolism; I don't think its really a pleasure reader but it was interesting...I love anarchy stuff.

Worst book:
LITTLE PRINCE - I have no idea why people think this is such a good book....o.O

I read Lord of the Flies in school and didn't enjoy it but then read it at home myself and liked it.
The only book i have ever started reading but been unable to finish was the first Harry Potter book. I think they are absolutely terrible.

Ginger Pie is HORRIBLE. Indian Summer takes the cake, though...

I know others raved about it, but I have yet to be able to make it through Cold Mountain, despite at least half a dozen attempts, and I always finish books, so I guess that would have to be mine.

I hated "A Separate Peace" when I read it in 10th grade. It may have been the teacher, but I got absolutely nothing out of that book. It was the most pointless and depressing thing I ever read.

Turn of the Screw by Henry James is awful. His sentances drag on forever. It would take me ages just to finish one page. It was supposed to be a horror story but I thought that it was just too dragged out to sustain any interest and the ending is a major letdown. I hate books that don't tie up loose ends.

*any* of the Xanth books by Piers Anthony. they are all awful. I read them when I was 12 and even then realized they were pretty bad :)

I'm sure there are worse books but luckily I've avoided reading them

"Phantom of Manhattan". Supposed to be the sequal for "Phantom of the Opera" that Andrew Lloyd Webber was going to use as a basis for a sequal to his musical.

The book was horribly awful. I've told people in the past to get it from the library if they absolutely must read it. And if you absolutely must buy it, don't pay more than $1.

A question for carpetcrawler: Did you not like the plot of The Da Vinci code, the writing style or the message that it was putting across?

My worst book ever was given to me not a while back. It was a big children's dictionary, with lovely illustrations but I understood every single word in it! To think they must have thought I was crazy or too young in the head!

The Awakening.
Wild Swans was too long.

She's Come Undone was the worst book I've ever read. I can't remember the author, but a friend loaned it to me, raving about how funny it was. Not only didn't I find it funny, I found it utterly depressing. I suppose different tastes is what makes the world go around, but I truly found it awful.

That's one of my favorite books. The author is Wally Lamb. To each their own, though.
