Subject: Worst Book Ever

What is the worst book you have ever read?

I have read two- "Silas Marner" (sorry if I'm offending you if you liked it. I thought it was so weird) and that children's book "The Giving Tree". I about cried when I read that one. If you've never heard of it, you're blessed.

Your thoughts??

Indie, thanks for filling in that missing blank on the author of She's Come Undone. And while I was a tad critical of his work (just a little; ouch, sorry!), I can say that I recall being impressed by how a man could so skillfully nail down a female character the way he did.

No problem at all. One of the things that impressed me about the book was his ability to portray a female character so well.

Lamb's work does rub some folks the wrong way. He can be a give or take kind of author.

I don't really like that book Ginger Pie. It's one of the only books I never finished. It wasn't well written in my opinion.

I don't like Eragon, or the Artemis Fowl books either.

The worst books I've read (and I couldn't stop because they were for school) we're Joey Pigza Swallows the Key and Joey Pigza Loses Control.

"Weaveworld" by Clive Barker. Utter garbage.

Worst book ever for me, hands down, is "One Hundred Years of Solitude". It's an Oprah's book club book, raved about for the magical realism and all, but our over the summer reading assignment for people taking honors 10th grade English the coming school year was to read it, and NO ONE liked it. A horrible, confusing, uniteresting, and LONG book!

I have to agree on "Weaveworld." I used to really like Barker, but I just can't get in to his writing any more.

GTL71792 I so agree with you. I know a lot of my classmates loved it but I just couldn't stand it. Another book I really did not like is Skellig by David Almond. To me it made know sense.

I wouldn't try to make sense of David Almond's book, "Skellig," as it is a disappointment when you do.
Anything by Thomas Hardy are amongst the most boring books I have read.

I finally broke down and read the Davinci Code, I hated it, it reminded me of the quote "sound and fury signifying nothing"

"Cross Stitch" by Diana Gabaldon. I've tried to read it three times now. Last time I got over half way through, but it just doesn't hold my attention. I can be called away by a dirty oven, over grown lawns, scale in my coffee pot......

The worst book... wow... hmm. -thinks-
To those who say that LOTR was boring: yes, it was, it dragged like anything, so just take my advice and DONT READ "THE SILMARILLION"!
I have a natural aversion to anything by J K Rowling for one reason and one reason only: everybody keeps on raving about it, trying to FORCE me to read it. I might actually read the Harry Potter series if only evrybody would stop trying to get me to read it... anyway. I also have a natural aversion to almost any classic, especially "Pilgrim's Progress" and anything by... by... who wrote "Emma"? umm.... hmm. Sorry, name flew out of my head.
Every book I ever truly hated I never finished reading. So. "Emma," "Pilgrim's Progress."

I found "A Seperate Peace" "Johnny Tremain" and "Animal Farm" extremely boring. They just weren't my thing. Plus, nothing really happened in "A Seperate Peace". But I"d have to say, the stupidest book I've ever read is "The Enormous Egg". It was so pointless. If you've never read it, don't.

I know the book Little Women is a classic and a lot of people ohhh and ahhh over it, but I didn't like it one bit. It just went on and on and on with hardly an intersting part.

My worst is "I, Robot" by Issac Asimov. The only book in years that I couldn't even finish. Nothhing at all like the movie, and nothing at all like a piece of good literature.

Even though I LOVE the musical, the book Wicked stunk. The sequel also was terrible.
