Subject: Celebrity Deaths ...

Have you ever cried over the death of someone famous? I know I have, silly as it may sound. I'll never forget the day Kurt Cobain died. I heard it on the tv, and just froze and I felt stunned at first. I was shocked and then I cried like a big baby! I am a huge fan of Kurt's, and his music means alot to me, so naturally I was saddened by his death. Also, when George Harrison died, I was pretty torn up. I didn't even know he had been ill, and I loved him so! What celebrity deaths have you cried over? You can list more than one if you would like!

John Lennon (mainly because I knew that for sure was the end of the Beatles).

Heath Ledger and River Phoenix (What a waste)

Princess Diana and John F Kennedy Jr

Top of the list was John Lennon. I am such a huge fan of the Beatles and the way his life was cut short was so tragic. The man had faults, but peace and unity was what he strived to achieve. Second my favourite actor, David Niven, when he died of Lou Gehrig's disease. Like many other players I am also saddened by young lives ending, sometimes needlessly.

Recent notable deaths include David Carradine, in very suspicious circumstances according to rumour. He will be remembered for his starring role in the 70s series Kung Fu, and his mesmerising performances in the Kill Bill films.

Also recently passed is novelist David Eddings, best remembered for his fantasy noves, the Belgariad, Malloreon and Tamuli being the best known of his serials. He reinvigorated the high fantasy genre and will be sadly missed.

Karl Malden died today at the age of 97. I remember him in two of his best roles - as Father Barry in 'On the Waterfront' and as Mitch in 'A Streetcar Named Desire'. Great actor. RIP, Mr. Malden.

Frank McCourt the author of the brilliant book Angelas Ashes and movie passed away at the age of 78. The autobiography of his childhood was really touching and sad. The movie was great too!

I was watching a 'M*A*S*H' re-run this afternoon and it was the episode in which a very young Patrick Swayze has leukaemia and I thought "How ironic is that?" Swayze, as we know, has pancreatic cancer and despite radical treatment it is spreading.

The ones that upset me the most are those that die before their time, I often wonder how far could they have gone if they had lived, but being a celebrity is a hard life, and full of pressure. A few that I feel fit this are Elvis, Farrah, Michael Jackson, Freddie Prinze, 2 of the Beatles and many Rock Stars.
