Subject: Roseanne Barr for President!

Posted by: callie_ross

Have you heard that Roseanne is running for POTUS? Hey, she can't be any worse that some of the others we've had! She may actually do a great job, if she gets elected, that is. Any thoughts or comments?

From Roseanne's own website:

ROSEANNE'S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMENT

Also Running for Prime Minister of Israel

I'm tired of watching as men destroy all the world. Everything used to be beautiful when women were in charge, and now I, working as the physical manifestation of the goddess Isis and the reincarnation of Cleopatra, have decided to save the world...

That's just the introduction. How can ANYONE take her seriously?

If your time isn't valuable, go to the following link and read the whole speech.

Interesting that one of her campaign promises is to "outlaw b-lls-t". She should start with her campaign speech.

Only in America? :))

Can cartoon characters run for President? Provided that they were 'born' in America,of course? How about ScoobyDoo? With Shaggy as VP? Surely, they would be taken as seriously as Ms.Barr? :))

I may be a small dissenting voice here, but I like her style and her approach. She's slagging off sexism, greed, religious hypocrisy, and the utter uselessness of the status quo - and doesn't she do it nicely?

Confession: I burst out laughing when I got to the bit about socks and milk.

I'd vote for Stephen Colbert. He'd beat Roseanne hands down. :^)

Who's Stephen Colbert?

It's OK, I've found him. He seems to be regarded as a comedian. Is that correct?

I watched two and three quarter insufferably long minutes of a clip titled "Colbert Roasts President Bush - 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner" and couldn't face the remaining twenty-one minutes, let alone two more instalments.

That was five years ago. Has he got any better since then?

One more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1T75jBYeCs

He made a good point but it was well hidden in five minutes of embarrassing nonsense. This time I watched the whole clip, and winced throughout.

I'll admit to bias as I don't like the show or the character of "Roseanne". I don't find a character who constantly belittles and insults her family, especially when it's her children, to be particularly funny. But maybe I take things too seriously.

On one level, her speech is very funny, if taken as a joke. But it is an extremely costly exercise to run for POTUS so she's either got money to burn, or she's serious (scary thought).

I wonder if she has no intention of running for office, but just wants to offer her version of how bad things are and how they could be improved?

Roseanne Barr is a crass IDIOT. Her 'candidacy' for POTUS isn't even a good joke.

So,who's for the ScoobyDoo and Shaggy ticket, then?

That's odd. I thought she was intelligent - and shrewd. Her manifestos have some very good, thoughtful ideas in them.

Paul, which of us is Scooby-Doo and which of us is Shaggy? A couple of forged birth certificates and we could be the next Dream Ticket!
