My dream house would be quaint and comfortable. I prefer a small surrounding that feels safe and homey. I've always liked the feel and layout of the house from Father of the Bride (1991). Reply #2. Jul 18 11, 2:16 PM |

I don't know about the house itself, but the library room would be huge! As for the outside, I've always envisioned a 1-2 mile private drive that's very inconspicuous, kind of like the old guys in "Children of Men". Lots of water nearby too- ponds, streams, whatever. And at least 1 sub-basement, that idea has always tickled me. Reply #3. Jul 18 11, 3:39 PM |

A typical English country cottage. Thatched roof, oak beams, a rose garden and a large lawn leading down to a stream at the bottom of the garden. Reply #5. Jul 20 11, 2:36 AM |

Anything provided that the nearest neighbours can only be seen using high powered binoculars on a clear day! Otherwise agree with RMG...........btw have actually lived in two cottages like that....well thatched with low oak beams anyhow, no big lawn or stream at bottom of garden though! Reply #6. Self-cleaning, self-repairing, with servants' quarters - cook, butler and chauffeur should be enough. Oh no - I'll need a gardener too. And someone to look after the swimming pool. When can I move in? Reply #7. Jul 20 11, 4:24 AM |

I want a large treehouse complete with wind flags, a very colorful totem pole (for a friend), and a deck to sit on while watching the creatures who live in the neighborhood. I would like to visit an English garden though. They are quite beautiful. Reply #8. Aug 19 11, 9:09 AM |

Somewhere in the pine woods, large fireplace and stacks of wood, comfortable with a pond and a running stream full of fish. Reply #9. Aug 19 11, 10:44 AM |

A three story house with stairs as well as a elevator. It would have a huge library, kitchen, family room, & many bedrooms & bathrooms so there would be enough room for my entrie family. The design of the house would have a wrap round porch with columns & shutters. The surroundings would have the feeling of several themes. Of course the backyard would have a big swimming pool & hot tub as well as a outdoor kitchen. Reply #11. Aug 21 11, 7:50 PM |

I think I've been living in it for 20 years but I would like to change the setting it's in. Frankly, I'm about ready for something smaller and easier to take care of. Reply #12. Aug 27 11, 8:26 PM |

Built round a courtyard, with french windows leading on to verandahs on both sides of rooms, and a breezeway. Lots of very easy care garden. Reply #13. Aug 31 11, 8:51 PM |

It would definatly be on the beach with windows all throughout the house. It would be 3 bedrooms with a waterfall in the back porch. The kitchen would have talking appliances and the AC would be 70 degrees F. There would also be a chauffeur. :) Since gas is $4 per gal here I would give hinm money. Lol Reply #18. Brick, big room for a study (library/office). Nice room up front for entertaining, with a gorgeous family room/"man cave" in back. Frank Lloyd Wright-type lines. Addition to one side with a pool and a hot tub. Reply #20. Aug 27 12, 5:45 PM |
