Subject: Hallmark/Lifetime movies

As one who doesn't put up her Christmas tree until December 24 (it comes down on January 5),I get a little fed up witth Hallmark Christmas movies that start a Countdown to Christmas in October! Lifetime isn't much better.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think "Enough already!" The movies are so formulaic! Boy meets girl - there is mutual antipathy - they learn to like/grow to love each other - then one of them misinterprets something he/she sees/hears/feels about the other = situation is resolved - happy ever after. There's always a major Christmas festival/pageantcelebration that involves the whole small town (Hallmark/Lifetime movies seldom take place in major cities).and big city boy-or-girl comes to understand that one can only achieve fulfillment/happiness/personal satisfaction by giving up stressful job as executive in major corporation/corporate lawyer/computer whiz/head chef or some other high-powered, city-based career, and moving into the slow lane by movving to the small town.

What this all has to do with Christmas is beyond me.

Aha! Cymruambyth, so it is *you* that is responsible for writing the screenplay for all of these films! ;)

Thank you for saying what I say to other people about these movies. I thought my mom was watching a really long movie once and turns out it was two different movies with the same actors.

I like playing a game with my daughter - who can best describe the plot after 5 minutes. Lovely fun.

I started a Lifetime movie one weekend afternoon that sounded really good and the title didn't give the plot away. Ten minutes into the movie, the culprit and the reason behind the murder was revealed. No need to watch the other 1 hr. and fifty minutes.

Why bother with a countdown? I thankfully don't see too many Hallmark commercials anymore, but when I did it seemed that it was 24-7 365 of "Christmas" movies. And they heavily played them for Feb 14th too. And why not, after all they're really better suited for Valentine's Day. Not to mention 85 to 90% are the same basic story with just the location and character names changed to make them seem different. It was only a few years ago the countdown was supposedly suppose to begin November 1st, which was way too early. Yet I got to come in on Halloween night to see them announcing the countdown had begun that very night. And then a couple years later they began their countdown like a week before Halloween while saying it was to begin in November! Why bother pretending anymore. Better yet, why bother pretending they're putting out movies.
