Subject: 20 Questions (single question game)

Posted by: trident
Date: May 29 19

Welcome to our new single question game! This is an idea I’ve been mulling over for a while, so I thought we could give it a shot and see how it goes. Those who want to play should be ready for a challenge. You could encounter any number of topics, so I recommend that players only join if they feel comfortable with being given a completely random topic that they might not know much about.

The premise of this game finds itself in the game 20 Questions. Players will post a yes/no question to this thread. I will answer each question, and then pose a single question topic to the player who asked the question. Here’s the catch: the single question topic I give you will be based on the question that you have asked me. If your question is “Is it a type of cookie?” and I say yes, your single question topic will be about a type of cookie (without being the actual correct answer). If I say no, well, there are lots of things in the world that aren't cookies! This will make more sense as we play along.

Guess the thing correctly, and you will score a point for the 20 Questions leaderboard.

Some quick rules are in order before we start:

1. Please only ask yes/no questions. Answers may sometimes be a little more nuanced than yes/no. The host may also give some hints to help players along.

2. Players may ask more than one question in a row (i.e. with no other players in between), but you must write your previous single question before asking another question.

3. You must have asked a yes/no question previously (and submitted the single question given to you) before you can make a final guess. This is to prevent players from coming in at the last moment and stealing the point from other players.

4. If you would like to make a final guess as to what the thing is, you must put the word GUESS before your guess. This is for clarity’s sake. Ex. GUESS: Is the thing The Statue of Liberty? There is no need to write a single question after final guesses (unless you really want to!).

5. If your final GUESS is incorrect, you must wait 24 hours from the time you made the guess to make another final GUESS. You must also ask a yes/no question and write its single question before making an additional final GUESS. (You don’t need to wait 24 hours to ask the yes/no question.)

6. The host should try not to pick topics that are overly broad or incredibly specific. Try to keep a nice balance so players aren’t left feeling frustrated.

7. The round host has the final say on decisions of rule-keeping and order. Thank you, hosts!

I’m excited to see if this game will work well considering how insightful our authors are. Let’s see if we can get this off the ground. I’m ready to answer your questions!

I came back here thinking there was an answer to my question - did I imagine making a question and it did not happen or what?

Is it a building?

I want to clarify that it is an old building with cultural significance, but not a designated heritage site as far as I can tell from a quick Google search.
