Subject: Globetrot Trivia 7

Tickets are getting bought up fast!

As with our other Globetrot Trivia challenges here in the Lounge, we'll travel to fifteen different locations and, using those sites as inspiration, provide quizzes to suit. This adventure around Earth will bring us to new and exciting destinations, many of which will be brand-new to the Globetrot Trivia as a whole. There's a lot out there to see!

A destination will be posted here on this thread. Sometimes that destination will be very specific and sometimes it will be very vague, but either way, we’ll need to have THREE quizzes queued up before we move on to the next location. When those quizzes are queued, the next one will show. You can, of course, write for any listed destination, even if we move on from it, until the challenge is closed.

So if we use an example: ‘The Empire State Building, New York City'. This means we need to queue three quizzes— anyone can submit them— before we continue on. The quizzes can be about the landmark or about empires or about the New York City skyline or on and on and on. As long as you can justifiably link the quiz's subject matter/content to the locations, it’s good! I would like to encourage authors to think outside the box. Use these prompts as an opportunity to spread yourself to parts of the site you may never have thought of before. Since players will be looking at these quizzes from a different angle in the future, it will be very helpful to avoid repetition!

Once we make our trip around the world, we’ll return to our starting location in some way. Last time, we started in China and ended the route in China again, making a big loop around the planet. This time, I warn-- we will NOT be crossing the International Date Line.

All you need to do is post when your quiz is submitted, and when there’s three we’ll move along. The quiz doesn't even need to be online yet! I'll snag it from the queue and add it to the list here.

Oh yeah-- and as always, all quizzes submitted for the Globetrot challenges will play a strong part in a future game for the site. The more we see, the better it is!

Safe travels!

As you'll note, we're upping the game a bit. Instead of two quizzes per destination, we're looking for a minimum of three per spot!

    Happy travels!

Good morning! I'm lucky in that I had run across several abbey references in one of my Quiz Month researches. So I went back to them and just submitted Quiz 421932 which falls under "World". Thanks!

You say Abbey Road, I think Beatles. Here's my take on the visit.

Bumping this up to appeal for one more Abbey Road-inspired quiz to move us on to the next stop. I don't think I can write a second one to make it happen?

I may take a crack at it, if it is still available in a few days... I want to finish some other projects first before taking on more :)

Technically LT, yes, you can write more than one per stop. Ideally we have a few different authors for each, but I wouldn't stop anyone from letting inspiration run free.

I could either write a quiz about artists who have recorded at Abbey Road studios or about St John's Wood where it's located in London. I don't know which category the latter would qualify for, however. If LT wants to write another one, though, I don't mind. It’s just a suggestion.

Or, if salami_swami wants it, that's okay. I just noticed the reply.

I do not want to write a third one (but do want to see the next stop), and I encourage both salami and Kalibre to write one. Previous tours have happily taken more than the minimum for moving on, and the more the merrier.

Go for it, Kalibre. I'm at a stall for an idea, I will revisit, but I'd like to get us moving in to the next stop, so would love to see your contribution! :)

Okay, salami_swami and looney_tunes. I can't decide whether to go for music or St John's Wood. Which category for the latter, please, LT? I sometimes get confused with categories. Duh! I only suggested it because I noticed you said the challenge wasn’t progressing. Just trying to help out in some way.

Kalibre, if your quiz is about the actual location, it would probably fit in the Geography subcategory of London.

But if you chose to focus on some other particular feature of St John's Wood, such as Lords Cricket Ground, that would change it!

Just noting, this game allows for creative interpretation, so you could write about cricket grounds, just including Lords as one of them. Or you could make a collection Music quiz in which players had to select the albums recorded at Abbey Road instead of somewhere else. Or categorise some songs as Abbey Road or another famous studio (maybe something in Nashville?). There just has to be a link in there, the site we are visiting doesn't even need to feature in the quiz (as long as the link remains clear), let alone be the focus of it.

Some great ideas from you, LT. Thanks very much for that. I did have a look this afternoon and thought it would be the Geography category for London, as I saw some others there. I must think about whether to go for that or albums. Thinking-cap on! : )

I have decided to go for a music quiz. It's going to be about various artists who have recorded at Abbey Road studios. I'm currently busy thinking about multiple-choice questions for it. One written and nine to go.

Onward, then. Is it Europe? Is it Asia? You decide your approach to the not-capital of Turkey (or Turkiye), Istanbul.

Would 'a quiz about They Might Be Giants because they did Istanbul (Not Constantinople)' count as an inventive Istanbul connection, or is that too tangential?

I would suggest that the quiz should go into a bit more than one question about the song 'Istanbul' if that's a route you choose to take, otherwise it's going to feel a bit removed from the source destination.

Kyleisalive, yes I see what you mean. It was just an idea I had. Have to think about it.
