Subject: Speedy entry of answers

How can I answer questions more quickly. I know the answers, move to answer as soon as possible, and still come in at most around 950. I see people who average 900++ but I can't figure out how they do it.

Practice.

That's the only thing that got me faster, playing the games a lot. I also won the Monthly badges while practicing.

The "Awesome Times" thread was closed and ALL of the pertinent responses, including mine, were removed. What a crock! No responses are safe on these boards anymore.

I think that thread was removed because there were specific allegations of cheating, I must admit I was surprised to find it had been there so long.

In answer to the question, practice. Play as many games as possible and you'll see the questions repeat. It gets to the stage where you don't have to read the whole question or even think about the answer.

The questions repeat. If you play long enough, you will react to one single word of the question. Especially on the Easy game.

Oh, sorry, Supersal, I didn“t read your answer and said almost the same. (blush)

You may also want to look at maximizing your hardware advantage (or minimizing the disadvantage, depending on whether the glass is half empty or half full ;)

. Make sure you understand all your options for click vs. keyboard. If on a conventional computer for instance and using strictly mouse based motion, play around a bit with tab, enter, and other key functions to see if it shaves a few seconds for you.

Scan for key words. On long questions work your way backwards.

15.16 on my iPad. Now that makes me happy! Would have been 11 or 12 on keyboard.

You need a good memory for the repeating questions.

To anyone looking for some 'key' to success. I'm not sure there is one necessarily except for practice of course. But here's a few things I do, maybe some other players who can get fast times can associate with these?

I simply look at the entire question in one go, I don't read along the line if that makes sense. As I'm clicking the answer i'm looking at the next question so that I can click the next answer straight away. I take the risk getting questions wrong too because I'm not taking the time to check for tricks in the question like 'which one is NOT' etc. if the question is long then read the last line of the question and answer. If one of the answers is 'all of the above' then I don't even look at the question.

The reason keyboard can be quicker is that you can use the 'tab' button to switch to the next question each time and arrow keys to select the answer then 'enter' to submit the quiz.

Accusation? Joke? Unexplained outburst? Some clarification would be nice.

When it becomes a question of speed of hardware and coordination due to repetition and question recognition over knowledge it seems the site loses some of its appeal. Perhaps some divisions need made based on speed rather than badge/ point acquisition. Maybe around 4 seconds and under/ question answered could graduate to a division of its own and let those that get the thrill of speed over accuracy of answers have there own niche not unlike the hardcore level in the global game. Just a thought.

This game is specifically that Dunbar. The piece of cake/easy game is the chance for players that are fast and accurate to show their skill. Other games are for other people, that is the beauty of this site, there is a type of game for everyone.

If this doesn't appeal to you then don't play the easy game, simple really. I don't play the games I don't like, such as crystal ball. Why would I? But I don't complain about it, it suits lots of other players that like that sort of thing.

Go navy, there, hickorystick! Did a four year gig myself from '80 to '84, partner. Got to cruise all over the Med and the Bahamas for a few years on a bad little Spruance class destroyer out of Norfolk. USS Peterson DD969. The Proud Pete! She was practically brand-spankin' new when I first boarded her.

Let's share some navy stories, bud! I'm game if you are! If not this thread then maybe some other one.

The thing I've been doing lately (while trying to chase down that pesky 16 second achievement badge upgrade...) is just looking at the capitalized words in the questions. Most times, you can discern the answers from those alone. I got 20.05 and 16.something the last two hours doing just that.
