Mike Farrell was just right as BJ. I liked the Trapper in the original movie better than Wayne Rodgers on the TV show. Reply #2. Apr 06 20, 4:25 AM |

BJ and Hawkeye were a good team and Mike Farrell was very empathetic in his portrayal. Reply #3. Apr 06 20, 4:26 AM |

Dire is right. B.J. is a fine foil for Hawkeye; very different from Trapper, but that's not a bad thing. Also, because of the length of time B.J. was on the show as opposed to Trapper,, B.J. was able to develop more as a character. Reply #4. Dec 06 20, 6:28 PM |

Yes, I remember some good BJ centered episodes about his family that were really good. Comes in handy for all the MASH questions on here. :) Reply #5. Dec 06 20, 10:59 PM |

I thought Mike Farrell did a fine job. He and Alan Alda made a good team. I loved Trapper, but they didn’t let the character develop much. Reply #7. Apr 28 21, 2:37 AM |

Folks are right. Farrell was the right casting for the role. What you need to look at is the changing tone of the show, in season four it really started to slowly move away from comedy. That's not to say they did away with comedy altogether by the end of the series, they just emphasized it less than they did early on. Reply #8. Mar 21 25, 2:27 PM |
