Subject: Jeff Healey

I was listening to the radio one night and heard this fantastic guitar playing. The dj said it was The Jeff Healey Band and I went out and bought some of his cds. I was hooked and after watching Roadhouse and seeing him play in his unusual manner, with the guitar on his lap was fantastic, considering he was blind. I didn't know that he had died until the other day when I was looking for some old stuff on youtube. He died of cancer and had fought through it all of his life from the a very young age. He was only 41 and as always with really talented and special people, he was taken away way too soon.

Rambler i knew of Jeff and his band before the road house days and indeed he was a great guitar player, another person taken by the dreadful disease known as cancer, with all the money collected of the last 30 years is a shame a cure still cannot be found.

Jeff will always be remembered for his unique and talanted guitar playing, it is god we have You tube and cds of him around.

Jeff Healey was a special talent, and it is tragic that he died at such a young age.
I've never seen Roadhouse, but it's one of my sister's favorite movies; after she watched it the first time, all she could talk about was Jeff Healey, and how cool he was.
Thanks for the thread, maybe some new fans will spawn from it; everyone should hear a little Jeff Healey in their lifetime.

I'm glad there's more Jeff Healey fans out there. I was listening to the album, Hell To Pay yesterday and he had such a great voice as well. Great music and lyrics and he seemed to cover a lot of songs but made them sound better than the originals.

Gary, their son was born with the same eye cancer that his father had, but the son still has his eyes. I think that's progress worth applauding.

He used to host a radio programme here in Canada called My Kind of Jazz, where he'd play records from his collection of pre WWII era jazz. If you can ever find clips of this, it's worth a listen if you're a jazz fan.

I am a fan of Jeff Healey too & was saddened when I heard of his death 3 years ago. His version of George Harrison's 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' is one of the best & well worth checking out. A great talent lost to us but at least we have his records and videos to remember him by.

I'm glad to see there are still JH fans around, too. He was an awesome player and wonderful entertainer. God truly blessed Jeff with talent and us with his beautiful spirit.
