No no no. I'm devastated. I just love his books. That is so wrong. I feel as if I've lost a friend. Rotten, rotten world. Reply #1. Jan 19 10, 3:52 PM |

Oh my... so sad And for selfish reasons, I would have wished him to live forever, so he could keep writing. R.I.P. and know that your works live on.......... Reply #2. Jan 19 10, 6:22 PM |

Well, I've been pretty vocal here in my opinion of his works the last few years, and it isn't complimentary. However, the last few weeks I've been rereading the books from the 70s and early 80s and, man, was he good. He was doing something that nobody else had tried, and doing it well - "Early Autumn" is an example of a type of book that had just never been written before. I love the modern hard boiled detective story, and, as the article said, it probably wouldn't exist without Parker. His first fifteen or so novels are truly remarkable, and we can be thankful for them. Reply #3. Jan 19 10, 7:48 PM |

I have read Mr. Parker"s books for many years and I am sorry that he has passed away. Lately his books had become "boilerplate", but; as agony pointed out...his earlier books were outstanding. I think I shall follow agony's lead and re-read all the earlier books and let that be my tribute to an outstanding American author. Reply #4. Jan 20 10, 7:48 AM |
