Subject: GC - redifining the word "literature"?

While I personaly don't care for this category anymore (I noticed last round that it becomes "unplayable" in Division 8), something should be done about it, to make it user-friendly again.

That I fail on some questions on Shakespeare (because I read or saw on stage only some of his plays), or that I mix up, again!, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" with "The Glass Menagerie" (because I didn't read them) - I can accept it, mea culpa (I know they deserve respect, but I just prefer other authors).

However, most of those books that are subject of quizzes in the later stages of Global Challenge are so obscure that noone comes near that category :(

At the moment (6 hours into the game) there have been 5 people who decided to play Literature, and there are about 330 players in the Division 8. And this isn't an isolated case (unless Literature is the Hardcore category).

Does it mean people don't read anymore?
Of course not!

So, could we, players, help Funtrivia editors to change this?
Is there a way to banish some (many) of those quizzes/questions to "For Children" category or somewhere else?

Not sure if this would be considered "too many", but I just had 4 questions on something called "Yu-Gi-Oh" in the Humanities GC. I guess it's some kind of card game??

Yes, Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game, similar to Magic...though Yu-Gi-Oh is largely a fad that's passed (at least here in the US). I only know about it because my younger brother (who's 18 now) was into Yu-Gi-Oh some 4-5 years ago when it was popular.

And speaking of "For Children"...it also is much tougher in Division 8. Gone are the "what rhymes with..." questions, replaced with questions about children's books that adults haven't read because these books did not exist when we were kids.

Overall though, I don't mind this. It's part of the Challenge in the Global Challenge. "For Children" is almost a gimme category in the lower divisions, and it becomes a tough category in the higher divisions. This is the first GC I've played from the start (I joined the site midway through the last GC), and I like the fact that I've been challenged to make adjustments and change strategy as needed.

Best of luck all!

Quoting myself: "It seems to me that the present GC is much more friendly than the previous ones. I am still in Division 7, though, and I don´t know what I will have to face in the next one."

I am now in Division 8 and I have to say I have given up playing Literature. Playing it twice I had 5/15, mere guesses and it is no fun. I started playing Geography instead, not that I was so good at it but at least I learn something interesting. But I don´t really care if in a teenager-oriented book Mary kissed Harry, Larry or Berry or what is the title of the second chapter in the third book of the fourth series of Nancy Drew.

I ehjoy the Literature set (even in the higher divisions) but find that there are too many questions which really belong in the 'For Children' set. Could we please banish ALL Harry Potter questions to where they belong? I know some adults have enjoyed the books but they are really for kids and most adults will only have a rudimentary knowledge unless they have children of the right age. I still dont know why Harry Potter is deserving of a separate chat room section when Shakespeare does not.
