VBookWorm has let me know that that was the right answer. So I'll start off with another movie! It's a historical film with a Naval theme. Reply #12486. Mar 15 23, 4:59 AM |

The film I had in mind was "That Hamilton Woman". It was supposedly Sir Winston Churchill's favorite movie--he claimed to have seen it over 80 times! I'm handing it over now to anyone else who wants to give it a go! Reply #12489. Apr 01 23, 10:35 AM |

I guess it can't be "Three Men and a Baby"! ;) Was it made in the 1990s? Reply #12491. Jul 25 23, 8:28 AM |

It would seem that no one on these boards is as old as I am.The movie is "The Little Kidnappers".an absolute gem of a film that came out in 1953 (and, yes, I saw it at a movie theatre back in 1953 or 1954! Lest you think I'm a hundred years old, I hasten to point out out that I was 16 or 17 at the time.) I've tried for years to find a copy on DVD but to no avail. It saddens me that it appears to be lost for ever because it was such a superb movie. One of the two children (Jon Whiteley) who starred in it received an honorary Oscar for his part in the film, and later went on to become a renowned art historian. Vincent Winter, the other child, appeared in several Disney films after 'The Little Kidnappers' and later went on to the production side of movies in Hollywood. A young man named Theodore Bikel also starred in the movie. How about another Jon Whiteley movie? This one starred Dirk Bogarde, too. Any ideas? Reply #12495. Oct 24 23, 10:54 AM |
