I didn't think of Kevin Bacon as underrated, but I guess he is in Hollywood, just not in my mind. He is one of my favorite actors; I love Kevin Bacon, I don't know how anyone could not. And I agree, he does well in every part, especially in Murder in the First. To think that he can go from Ren to that character- the man is talented!

-Thanks for mentioning him.

Ben Kingsley, Cym? He has Oscars, BAFTAs, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild awards, Padma Shri: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: dozens of other awards and nominations, including a whole slew of awards for the film Gandhi: a CBE and a Knighthood. That strikes me as just about as rated as you can get!

Many celebrities have Golden Globes, Stars on the Walk of Fame, etc, but they are still underrated.
When Ben Kingsley does a movie it is talked about, but, say, when Tom Cruise does a movie fans and media go crazy over him. See the difference?

Željko Ivanek does a lot of minor roles, mainly on TV, but also in some movies, and I think he's highly underestimated. A very good actor! :D

Ed Stoppard. He is my second favorite actor (after Adrien Brody) and he is a marvelous one. So underrated. He should have more recognition.

I agree about Željko Ivanek. He's a great supporting actor, mostly in TV, who quietly steals every scene he's in. He was amazing playing opposite Jack Lemmon in a movie it's now virtually impossible for me to find, "Mass Appeal". (If anyone knows where it might be found, please let me know. I'd love to see it again!)
Gary Cole. He's had supporting roles in a lot of TV series and movies. Right now, he's the star of NCIS (taking over for the overrated Mark Harmon). But my favorite of his roles yet is "Midnight Caller". And it can't be found anywhere (streaming, DVD, subscription TV) because there is some kind fight that's been going on about who owns the copywrite!) I found one full episode on YouTube. And what makes him so great is that he did monologues on there that sounded and looked so natural that I found it hard to remember that there was a script)

And the late great Brian Dennehy, my all-time favorite. I was lucky enough to see him in three plays in New York. Those included the two he won Tonys for Best Actor in a Leading Role in both "Death of a Salesman" and "Long Day's Journey into Night". The roles he played in those plays are considered two of the three most difficult in the American theater. And he is the only actor to have done that yet. (Other actors have won Tonys for playing one of the three roles, but he's the only one with two). And his sensitive portrayals of some very complex characters toward the end of his career are amazing. Couple that with the vicious "lawman" in "Silverado"; He was amazing.

I find Robert Lindsay really underrated... He won a Tony in the 1980s for his starring role in the musical "Me and My Girl", but he's been in so many different things, and always played his character with flair! Benedic in "Much Ado About Nothing"; Fagin in "Oliver Twist"; Jericho in the mystery series of the same name; more recently, he's also been back on stage in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and "Anything Goes". He's a great entertainer, and you can tell he's having fun!

I don't see any women listed so I will name a couple. On television, I will go with Lily Rabe from American Horror Story and The Undoing. I think she's fabulous and I would say not many out there even know her. For movies I will choose Rachel McAdams known for Sherlock Holmes, Notebook and Red Eye. I find her completely believable and she carries
herself really well along side male actors.
