Subject: If You Wrote a Book...

Posted by: Cymruambyth

Somebody once said that there was at least one book in every person, so what would your book be about? I keep telling myself that one day I'm going to write a book about childhood, only it wouldn't be an autobiography, but based on my own experiences of an idyllic childhood lived while Hitler and his oh-not-at-all-Merry Men ravaged Europe.

If I wrote a book, then I'd lose the project I direct all my crazy scenarios to.

Probably get sued..............."25 years in Security Industry", in wake of recent scandal over Olympic Security......I could write what REALLY goes on!

Or........many years ago, a comedy programme called "The Navy Lark" used to be on British radio......I could give plenty of examples on how it was a LOT truer to reality than the public realise!

Or I can let sleeping dogs lie!

I have written 5 books. I am currently writing a series (on a subject I am not prone to writing in), and have drafts for 4 others. I mainly wrote poems throughout my life but I started in short stories, and now I am venturing into novels. Though, I do want to write biographies on a few writers that have been relatively forgotten but finding information on them is proving difficult.

(I am not here to promote my work so don't ask me for the names of my work, or even my name)

I've written four young adult novels. Comfortably nestled within the saved files on my computer.

I have written a few short and not-so-short stories in different genres, and right now I'm working on my first fantasy novel. I'm enjoying the process so much that I guess I'll stick with this genre in the future.

Made a slight mistake on my last post on this thread. My series only has 5 books. Anyway, I've called my series "The Chronicles of Conterra". I finished writing "The Dragon's Realm" eight months ago & I'm currently working on the second book, "The Mystic Ranger". For this story, I've introduced 14 different species of dragon, one of which shares its name with my FunTrivia team (the Frost Dragons). The dragons are: the Violet Diamond-Fin, the Mottled Ivory, the Frost Dragon, the Red Broad-Wing, the Amphithere, the Common Sharp-Snout, the Giant Shield-Tail, the Royal Emerald, the Bladed Ruby-Tooth, the Mottled Amber-Crest, the Yellow Frost-Fin, the Blue Reaper, the Silver Firedrake & the Golden Rust-Wing.

I guess I'd write a fictional account of some kind of time travel. The subject of time travel has always fascinated me. I'd try to come up with a new angle or new way of traveling through time.

I have a book of my poems, some of which have been published and won prizes, but I keep it strictly for my family.

I see many of you like to write, but who's actually managed to be successful in getting their book published & having it available for sale in bookstores?

I don't know. I'd like to write a history book but it would take years of research. Science fiction maybe but the idea would have to be good and original. A novel maybe but there are so many excellent novelists out there.

Many people can write a good story........quite a few can write a book..........very few enjoy that extra "something" that gets a book published and even fewer can make much money from it.
