My parents didn't buy a television until after I was born in 1953. With two siblings who were busy being kids, I grew up watching "The Howdy Doody Show" , Captain Kangaroo. Later in life I got hooked on Bugs Bunny, The Flintstones,Jetsons and numerous others. My most favorite is Bugs Bunny!! Reply #81. Sep 18 16, 11:19 PM |

Man, I can't believe I'm doing this! I mean, this question was asked in 2011 and not a single person responded? It's either that or I can't figure out how to bring up the responses. Maybe somebody will stumble upon this like 20 or 30 years from now, who knows? Aheh-heh-heh! Anyway, how can you go wrong with the Flintstones and the Jetsons? Of course, there was also Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, and just all those crazy Looney Tunes characters. Quality, top-notch, ESSENTIAL family viewing. On the more serious, non-animated side of things, my parents just loved westerns, and you can bet that I watched plenty of Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Big Valley, The Rifleman, Kung-Fu, and lots of other shoot-em-up westerns where people are constantly getting murdered and shot at. SERIOUS family-time programmimg! Of course, there were also plenty of good comedies that didn't involve people being murdered. All in the Family, Good Times, Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore.......man, I wish I could turn back time! Okay, I guess I probably orta be quiet now! Reply #88. Rockin Steve Dude! What up, dawg? It's always fun to see someone respond or to just post anything after me. Okay, tv shows. I've been watching reruns of three comedy shows lately. Three shows that have run their course and aren't being made any more, and shows that I just never watched before now for whatever reason. They are The New Adventures of Old Christine, Everybody Loves Raymond, and King of Queens. All three of them are just hilarious! Reply #90. Dec 30 16, 7:09 AM |

I watched a lot of television in the '70s, but then there was a lot of good television to watch. Where to begin? The Rocky and Bwowinkle Sho (I particularly loved Underdog!) Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood Dog Tanyan HR Puff n Stuff The Flintstones The Jetsons The Monkees Welcome Back, Kotter Donny & Marie The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries On Saturday morning there was an hour, can't remember what it was called, but it had the adventures of two very different superheros, one superheroine and one superhero, actually, Isis and Captain Marvel. The Captain Marvel part was called Shazam! I loved that show. Also watched Soul Train on Saturday afternoon and sometimes American Bandstand. And, oh, yes, I liked The Banana Split Show. And those were just the shows aimed primarily at kits. I also watched Dark Shadows, MASH, All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newheart Show, The Jeffersons, Maud, Good times, One Day at a Time and The Love Boat. Oh, and how could i forget? Mork and Mindy! Also liked Fantasy Island. During the day I sometimes watched game shows. My favorite of those was Name That Tune, hosted by Tom Kennedy, though Hollywood Squares and Password were good too. There were others that I watched sometimes, like Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. Also loved the reruns of Batman and of Star Trek. I thought Mr. Spok was the coolest person ever. Wanted to be just like him, calm and logical. Never quite managed that. By the time I was watching television in a big way, The Brady Bunch had gone into syndication. Enjoyed that one too. Later on I also liked Family Ties. Gotta love Alex! We had great TB when I was a kid. Some of it is on YouTube now. Reply #91. Aug 18 17, 3:01 PM |
