I would be open to read just about anything, to be honest. Your post reminds me a little of Crime and Punishment, where the protagonist for a while tries to justify his right to murder. I think the novel "Perfume" by Patrick Suskind is rather like that but when I read the blurb on the back of the book describing the story, I decided not to read it. I don't really enjoy books like that. I did read "Instance of the Fingerpost" by Iain Pears.
