Today, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, a funeral is being held for murdered teenager, Daniel Morcombe. Daniel disappeared in December 2003 while waiting for a bus to take him to a local shopping centre to buy Christmas presents for his family. His body was found in bushland in October last year.
I encourage people to wear something red today as a sign of remembrance. Red was the colour Daniel was wearing when he vanished.

Today, just coincidentally, I'm wearing red. I remember coming across an article about Daniel at some point in the last year, perhaps once they found his remains. He was such a handsome kid and certainly a very loving son. I grieve for his family. Reply #1. Dec 06 12, 11:27 PM |

I think Daniel's parents, Denise and Bruce Morcombe, should be applauded for the way in which they have handled this personal tragedy. At all times when dealing with the media they have proven themselves to be of a brave and strong willed character and have not shown any signs of histrionics or a woe is me attitude. So horrible! I hadn't heard about this until I saw this thread! Probably because it was overshadowed by all of the kidnappings & murders that happen here everyday. UPDATE! After a 19-day trial, Perth man Brett Peter Cowan has been found guilty of the abduction and murder of Daniel Morcombe. He's aslo been found guilty of indecent treatment of a child and interfering with a corpse. More news as it appears. Reply #8. Mar 12 14, 9:37 PM |

When commenting on a subject or case, Elusive Dream, get your facts straight. Brett Peter Cowan who murdered Daniel was actually a Queensland resident and only moved to Perth Western Australia to escape detection. But thankfully the law caught up with him. Now it remains for the courts to decide if the sentence was long enough and there is a possibility that it will be increased thank goodness.
