Here's a list of interesting book titles for stories that I'd like to write, but I can't think of any storylines for them. Anyone got any ideas?

Haha, maybe you could find one particular title you really like and then brainstorm to come up with a decent storyline for it. Some writers have the opposite problem, they can't come up with a title! Reply #1. Nov 14 15, 10:10 AM |

Planet of the Forsaken makes me think of a time when antibiotics no longer work but at the same time the population has expanded to the point where there are too many people on the planet (Earth or another?) People are therefore expendable. The value of life is low but space travel is now commonplace and there is a planet that sick people are sent to quarantine them from the healthy population. Most of them die but some recover, though they are never allowed to return to the home planet. Eventually the home planet is threatened by a catastrophe and doom seems inevitable for everyone on it. The only slim chance of survival seems to be for the elite to travel to the Planet of the Forsaken and take their chances there. The group attempts to find the best place to live on the Forsaken planet which means finding and destroying the survivors there and taking over their facilities after a thorough fumigation. However the forsaken find out what is happening from a sick person the group has abandoned and determine to fight to defend the small society they have created there which has none of the problems or vices of their home planet. You can decide who wins and how they win or whether in the end there is some coming together of the two groups. Perhaps the home planet people begin to realise some of the good things the sickness survivors have created and that they need these great thinkers. Perhaps some emotional connection develops or perhaps they can't survive without the sickness survivors and there is a self-interested need to come together. Alternatively, the people surviving on the Forsaken Planet are really human shells inhabited by diseases which have taken over their bodies and brains. The diseases did this in order to survive because if all the victims die, the diseases will die out. The diseases have developed so as to keep their victims alive but diseased. The victims have the mentality of diseases so they are evil. The battle is between the healthy and the diseased. If the diseased win, men will forever more be a slave to the diseases that control them and the human capacities of men will deteriorate as they cease to evolve and start to regress. Or perhaps on Earth a "perfect" man and woman were selected and after that everyone else was cloned from them and the "imperfect population was sent to another "forbidden" planet. The cloned population of Earth knows nothing about this until one day a cloning inexplicably produces an anomaly. The anomaly looks like the others but their brain works differently and they have a stronger streak of individuality and rebellion and start to figure out what's happened from some clues not all of it but just that there's a big secret and it's connected with a nearby planet.
