Subject: The Leaning Tower of.......

Posted by: 13LuckyLady

The 58-story Millennium Tower is sinking into the ground. It is located in San Francisco, CA.

Sixteen inches down so far and listing to one side, it has been dubbed "The Leaning Tower of San Francisco".

The building can be seen sinking from space.

In solidarity, a bank in Greenwood Village, CO has begun to sink.

Various reasons have been suggested. Voles, the ground not properly prepared, quakes, poor building practices.

While I am not an engineer, after working with and learning from them, I suspect water (or water tables) may be the issue.

Interesting news...for interesting people.

:)

I don't think it has anything to do with the water table. Here is a link to an article that provides a pretty good explanation:

Are you sure it can be seen sinking from space? Apparently they can't even see the Great Wall of China from that far up.

Or am I thinking of the moon?

I suppose it depends on how far up they mean.

Either way, what dopey engineers and architects.

According to the European Space Agency it can be seen from space.

They claim to have pictures.

The Agency is engaged in tracking ground movement.

They did not mention the moon.

I recently saw someone refer on the internet to "The Leaning Tower of Pizza" and they did mean the building in Pisa.

According to one of my students (from decades ago when I taught high school science), "Galileo used dead people and dropped them off the Learning (sic) Tower of Pizza, then measured the weight of gravity". I kid you not.
