LEG #4, PIT STOP A Pit Stop is a period of rest at which teams can take a short reprieve from the fast-paced race around FunTrivia. Here, their quizzes from the previous leg can continue to go online and they will depart at a specific time based on their advantages/penalties. For this leg of the race, each correction notice results in a 30 minute time penalty. Teams with quizzes still in the queue by the start of Leg 4 must keep their quizzes submitted. Leg #5, Clue #1 - 'Generally Mixed' Route Info The General category is full of unique gems (even a gemstone subcategory), but some of the best quizzes therein emerge when someone thinks outside the box. For this task, you must write a ten question Mixed quiz, but it must be a Match Quiz or a Photo Quiz. That’s all there is to this challenge. Oh yeah, and CAUTION: Double U-Turn ahead! A Double U-Turn allows a team to select any other team to return to the upcoming Detour to complete the option they neglected to choose. If that team has already passed by the U-Turn, they are not affected by it. Further instructions will be given upon your arrival at this race mechanic; all you need to know is that staying ahead of the curve is the best chance at avoiding it. ----------------- 1. Leg #5, Clue #2 - 'All Mixed Up' Road Block A Road Block is a task that only one member of your team may complete. To receive your next clue, said member will need to notify me personally via PM on the main site to claim the challenge. They may not switch team members and they may not request help to complete the task— this is all on them. For this task, the choice is yours: who’s all mixed up about this whole thing? Note: If any member of your team has not completed a Road Block, they are required to participate in this one. ----------------- While the Mixed section of General is probably the epitome of general trivia, it can be a bit broad. People out there have their interests, and taking on a Mixed General quiz can be daunting. For your task, you may write in any category *except* General, but the subcategory you choose must have the word ‘Mixture’ or ‘Mixed’ in it. Keep in mind that this should (unless you get crafty) mean you must avoid any thematic link save for the section you’re in. It takes a knowledgeable mind to write a strong mixture quiz; it’s time to test yours. Oh yeah. We're in Leg 5 of the race, aren't we? We can't have any duplicate categories. Leg #5, Clue #3 - 'Animal or Mineral?' Detour Let’s mix things up even more and head to a new category, a section of FunTrivia which, in itself, is a mix of different topics. A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with their own pros and cons. Some Detour tasks may prove to be better options for teams depending on their strengths and weaknesses, but some choices may facilitate speedier or more creative results. This is a bit special though. This is a Blind Detour. It’s a classic dichotomy: Animal or Mineral? For this task, you must pick one of the two options. You will be unable to receive the clue for the alternate option for twenty-four hours. ----------------- Animal – Look closer at the living world. You must write a quiz in either the Biology or Health and Human Biology subcategories. You must, however, use an Author Challenge list title to complete this task. Mineral – Dig deeper. You have a choice of five narrow Sci/Tech subcategories, but there is no restriction on title. Your choices include: Metals, Specific Elements, Earth Science, Palaeontology, and Environmental Problems. Your quiz must be a multiple choice submission. Note: Both Detour options must not be Match Quizzes. **Please keep in mind that both categories have specific guidelines on what differentiates Celebrities from People. To avoid correction penalties, it would be imperative to sort this out.** ----------------- Animal 1. Double U-Turn You have arrived at the DOUBLE U-TURN. If you choose, you may force another team to complete the other side of the Detour that they did not originally choose, thus expanding the breadth of information added to the site. If that team has already passed, the U-Turn will be ineffective. Two teams may choose to use this U-Turn (as it is a Double) but a team may only use it once, and any team can not be U-Turned twice in one leg of the race. If a team is U-Turned, all teams passing by will know who has been selected and who did the deed. First come, first serve. You must notify Kyle via PM on the main site if you do or do not wish to use the U-Turn. You must also notify him if you can not use the U-Turn for any reason (ie. It has already been used or you have used up your U-Turn ability). When this is done you may receive your next clue. -------------- LACE-23 HAS BEEN U-TURNED BY THE ROCKETTES. Leg #5, Clue #4 - 'Music by Genre' Route Info Now that you’ve looked at precious metals (MAYBE?), maybe you should turn your attention to heavy metals…and hard rocks…and pop rocks? It’s time to shift gears and turn up the bass in the Music category. For this one, it doesn’t matter what type of music you listen to; you just need to listen to something. Leg #6, Clue #3 - 'Revelations or Salutations?' Detour Every story must have an end. A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with their own pros and cons. Some Detour tasks may prove to be better options for teams depending on their strengths and weaknesses, but some choices may facilitate speedier or more creative results. For this Detour, you choose the story in one of two major categories: Revelations – Write a quiz about the end-times in the Religion category.
