"We'll start easy. For this first task, you'll be looking back at a past quiz commission. All you need to do is to write a quiz - 10 questions, multiple choice - whose title fits the criteria of either Commission II ("Help!") or Commission XIV ("Not for Kids!"). Oh, if you took part in either of these commissions, you can't be in the same category you chose back then. We don't want it to be too easy for the veterans!

Remember the "Fill Me In" hourly game? We've decided that game needs some more questions, so you get to write a Fill In The Blank format quiz for this task. Before you start writing, however, post a reply in this thread and look at the timestamp. If it is
- between 0:00 and 5:59, you can write in Geography, Movies, Literature or Religion.
- between 6:00 and 11:59, you can write in History, Music, Celebrities or World.
- between 12:00 and 17:59, you can write in Sci/Tech, Television, People or Sports.
- between 18:00 and 23:59, you can write in Animals, Entertainment, Humanities or Hobbies.
You can of course wait for a more convenient time (and thus set) before you make that post, but your timer is ticking. And yes, I'm mean for not including Brain Teasers.

Look at your quiz list. Choose the first quiz you see that you have written that starts with the letter F. Now do the same with I, T, and B. You must choose the main category of one of these four quizzes and write a FITB quiz in that category. If you don’t have a quiz that starts with each of the four letters, then you are stuck with fewer options. If you have NO quizzes which start with any of the four letters, write in Celebrities.

What's in a team name? Well, usually some letters for a start. Have a look at the ones in your FunTrivia (not Sprint!) team name and, while you're there, count them. Word by word, ignoring punctuation. "The Cat People" would be 3, 3 and 6. "Gilligan's Island" is 9 and 6. Digits and special characters are ignored entirely, so "50+ and Proud of It" use 3, 5, 2, 2.

Now write a MATCH QUIZ (you saw that, right?) whose title follows the same pattern. To match my Cat People compliant "3, 3, 6" pattern , I could use "Ten Old Ladies" or "Al's Bad Errors". Anything goes as long as it isn't the name of an existing FunTrivia team (whether your own or not).

If you're teamless, your team is "Not In One", so you need the pattern 3, 2, 3. And if your team name is only a number, I guess you're stuck having a number for your quiz title as well. It doesn't have to have the same number of digits, however.

Oh, don't even think of changing teams now. You're stuck with whatever team you were in when you first clicked on this.

"QUALITY MATTERS"

You're not a first time author. We'll exploit that. Check your current quiz list ("Me" menu / My Quizzes: Edit). Now pick any quiz ranked between 30,000 and 44,999 and head to the exact same subcategory to write another one. And this time, you might as well make it a sunny since you got so close last time.

If you don't have any quizzes in that range or you want a nice 45 minute bonus (or both), go all the way to the bottom of the list and look for your FIFTH WORST ranked quiz. That's the fifth from the bottom. Write in that same subcategory and this time, get it right.

(Ignore the difficulty qualifiers in General - if you're supposed to write in Mixed 20Q Difficult, you'd just do Mixed 20Q and you'd also curse your luck for being stuck with the double length.)

Trident asked for:

Write a quiz in a subcategory of any quiz of yours that has a rating that contains somewhere within it the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything, 42. If none of your quizzes have a 42, try 41, and so-on, until you have at least one quiz with a ranking containing that number.

If you would like to try your hand at the bonus, look to your quiz which is ranked the lowest. Use that subcategory to write a (hopefully higher-ranked) quiz.

"HOW TO ASK"

Wes asked for:

Are you tired of being sent to strange subcategories you'd rather not touch again? That's great, because this time you can write about anything you want. Any title, category, subject you prefer, as long as it's a multiple choice quiz.

There's just one tiny caveat: your questions need to be Haikus as well as being actual questions, ending with a proper question mark. Be careful about this - if you miss this requirement, your quiz will not count!

A Haiku has three lines, the first having five syllables, the second seven and the third five again. Haikus don't need to rhyme.

Sample question that would qualify:

A wizardly boy
Fighting four difficult tasks
Which was this movie?

The art of the question. We’ll soon learn “how” to ask in this leg. For this quiz, write a multiple choice quiz in any category. You must use the word “how” to begin each question (e.g. how many, how often, how old, etc.). You may have information before the question, but the question itself should start with “how”.

Leg 6 tasks and quizzes (May 12)

"DIRTY DOZEN"

Wes asked for:

Why should we always do 10, 15 or 20 questions? How about 12? Compose a coherent 12-question quiz about almost any subject you want. Ten of those go into a quiz template and the other two must be sent in as single questions in the same category (so you can't create a Brain Teaser, For Children or Video Games quiz).

The catch is that you must actually find something that comes in twelves and ask one question about each of the twelve things. And just because it would be too easy, the months, any zodiac, the Twelve Days of Christmas and the numbers 1 to 12 are right out. Find something more creative, like an author who wrote exactly 12 novels or your favorite 12-track CD. (The set of 12 must be on the day you write the quiz. It won't hurt if your chosen team will win its 13th championship next year, all that matters is it having exactly 12 today.)

Also, each category can be used only once. The first player to claim each category gets it! You can reserve your category (by posting) as soon as you start writing, but if you do, your quiz MUST go online in that category - no second thoughts allowed. No, being late in the round isn't always an advantage :)

Obviously this can't be a match or photo quiz due to the extra two questions. An all multiple choice would work best, but this is not absolutely required as long as you stay with the basic template and have a majority of multiple choice. Also, please remember that all submissions must stand alone. They can't reference the two singles in the quiz or vice versa. A conclusion such as "Look out for my questions on Virgo and Pisces in the daily and hourly games!" just doesn't work, and that's not only for being on the zodiac...

Wes asked for:

Player profile pages are an endless source of task idea mayhem. How about your Expert wins? You should have a few of these. Now pick any one subcategory you won within the last 15 levels (Champion doesn't count - it must list the level) and write a quiz in that subcategory. You won it, so you obviously know something about it.

(Exactly 15 levels ago is fine. If you're 108, you can pick 93, 108 or anything in between. And yes, it's allowed to play and win the current hour if that one would suit your quiz-writing needs. Good luck.)

If you didn't win any Expert games in your last 15 levels, you get to use any Champion victory instead. And if you don't have that either (aren't you playing that game?), you're stuck with today's Team Heroes category.

Style points (but no actual time bonus - sorry) to anyone using a subcategory they haven't written in before.

In your list of Expert wins from the game “Who’s the Expert?”, look for any subcategory which does not contain the letters C, D, or F. You may write any type of quiz in one of those subcategories (you may likely have multiple ones to choose from).

If all your subcategories contain one of those letters, use the subcategory which contains the most As. If none of your wins fits the bill or you have no Expert wins, write in General Topics for Children in the For Children category.

"ANSWER ME"

Wes asked for:

For this task, you are on a budget, 360 letters. That's all you get to create the ANSWER options for your quiz which must be *multiple choice*. Since you need 40 options for a 10-question quiz, that's an average of 9 letters per answer, maximum. Spaces are free but you can't use numbers. Also, you can't repeat any answer option (not even in different questions) and General/Mixed and Vocabulary would just be too easy, so you can't pick those. Anything else is fair game!

As a special offer, you can either make this task a photo quiz or a 15-question quiz to get a 75 minute bonus (no, doing both won't get you twice the bonus). But if you choose 15 questions, you still only get 360 letters to work with which means you'll have to live with an average of just six per answer...

Trident asked for:

Write a multiple choice quiz in any category where every individual answer and answer option begin and end with the same letter (e.g. level, pump, gulag). The letter does not need to be the same letter for all four answer options (i.e. you do not need to use "L" for all four answer options on question 1).

You receive a 75-minute bonus if the quiz is either a photo quiz or a 15-question quiz.

Okay, for the last round, look at all the Sprint quizzes you (or your team if you were in one) have written so far. Extras do count if they qualified (i.e. the "slower time" ones are in play, but the "not qualified" aren't). Find the category you have used most often - if there's a tie, take the one of them you have first written for (e.g. if you did History in legs 2 and 8 and Sports in legs 3 and 4, your majority category is History). Now DON'T write for that category again (that would be boring), but for the OPPOSITE one as determined by the following pairings:

The day of the week on which your birthday landed corresponds to a number on this list: (1 – Sunday, 2 – Monday, 3 – Tuesday, 4 – Wednesday, 5 – Thursday, 6 – Friday, 7 – Saturday). The number you have now corresponds to the category of the leg of that Sprint quiz.

For example, if your birthday was on a Sunday, your number is 1, and you must look at the category of the quiz you wrote for the first task. Write a quiz in that category. There are no format restrictions on this one.

Note: If you wrote multiple quizzes for your task, choose the quiz that qualified toward your score. If you are doing Ironman, you get a break and can choose between the two categories!
