I really "don't get it". The only one I have seen and tried is the Mixed, and both times, although I knew all the questions, I just can't go that fast. Reply #1. Mar 28 18, 9:26 AM |

I love them! Anyone who's tried and won smartest of the smart or hourly mix has essentially already managed to achieve a perfect score as quickly as the seventh tier on these badges but it's nice to have to shoot for it again. Usually I only play Piece of Cake and Who's the Expert but this has me having a go at the others again and anything that increases the uptake of the hourly or daily games is a good thing. Reply #3. I'm just getting them by accident, which is great. Surprises are cool! I always try to go as fast as I can, although I'm not always good at it, because I like being top scorer, just for myself, but it's even better getting a little award for it! Reply #4. Mar 28 18, 12:40 PM |

This is an outrage! I demand to speak to the rock and roll outlaw who started this highly controversial blog. Was that you, Mark? I'm telling on you to the authorities! :-p No, seriously, I'm with Jo, it's always cool to get unexpected surprises. I don't really understand how all of this works yet but I suppose I will eventually. Doesn't seem to be that complicated. Seems like you get a big bold message right there letting you know you have achieved level 1 and what you have to do to achieve level 2. I'm with you, Mark, it seems like nothing more than a new way to have fun with the games around here. Should make the games more fun and interesting by all means. If not, well, I guess I'll come back here and cry and complain and sound off about it until I get the blog locked out. Just clowning around! :-p Reply #7. Mar 28 18, 3:04 PM |

I like them, although I didn't understand them at first. You do have to achieve the levels in order, so if you race through with a great time, it won't count unless that time is the next in the procession. That last time I looked, last night, Triviaballer had completed two of the three "achievements." That guy is flatout amazing. Reply #8. Mar 28 18, 3:08 PM |

I also still maintain it's a way to get people more interested in playing the Dailies, but now that they've added Word Wizard and Expert... I still think that's what it's all about. Inspiring interest. Reply #9. Mar 28 18, 3:09 PM |

I've got 'upgrades' now in five of the categories, but I don't think any of them are the highest level yet. I'll get there! Reply #10. Mar 28 18, 3:12 PM |

Elle, I'm in agreement that the new achievement badges are a good way to stimulate interest in playing the dailies. I always play them on weekends, Christmas break, and in the summer, when I don't have to go to bed so early, but this might prod me towards trying to play more of them during the week. Stephanie and Mark, I also have to agree with ya'll about the speed thing. I'm a lefty, and that hand is very crippled up with peripheral neuropathy and tends to be unreliable. The highest speed I've EVER been able to manage on any quiz is 39 seconds, and I remain convinced that it was some sort of weird fluke. Just like in the old typing class days, I'd rather sacrifice speed for accuracy - just a personal quirk. That being said, it certainly doesn't keep me from giving it the old college try! Jo, you put it quite nicely when you spoke of "surprises." I've been surprised a few times on this sight, won badges, and I gotta admit, it gave my whole day a lift. Anne Reply #11. I play the dailies because I want those Triathlon points! And I play them for my team. Although lately, I am completely distracted by Kebbin's and Mark's Blogs. Reply #13. Mar 28 18, 6:09 PM |

No I am built for comfort, not speed, and as far and I am concerned FT is about knowledge, not about how fast I can click a mouse. Reply #16. Mar 29 18, 7:37 AM |

I love the new upgrades! Played so much yesterday that I ended up 10th in points for the day. Reply #18. Mar 29 18, 8:22 AM |

Yes, I agree. I wish I had half the knowledge of most of the regulars playing here. I’m constantly in awe of them. So, since this site has something for everyone then this type of thing is for those like me who do not have as great an accumulated knowledge but love to play competitive games and test what small knowledge we do have to the limit in terms of speed of recall, ability to adapt quickly and think things through without hesitation. I love it and it’s a little bit more than just clicking the mouse quickly. Reply #19. Mar 29 18, 8:26 AM |

Thanks for the tip on where to go to see where we stand, Mark. I never knew that was there. I don't see how I could ever possibly get to level 7 on any of them, but it will still be fun to see just how far I can get. 10/10 in 16 seconds on the Easy Game?! Get real! :-p Reply #20.
