Subject: Inappropriate Player Conduct Note

It has recently come to our attention that a few players have taken it upon themselves to act as a neighborhood watch, using site tools to very closely look at (and then report) other players' activities. This concerns us for several reasons:

- FunTrivia values privacy. Unlike social media sites, we allow and encourage you to play here anonymously. We prefer that players think twice before posting personal information and we do not sanction any attempts to dig up or extract such information from others.

- Our community guidelines aim at providing a safe environment without any pressure. No player should feel like they are being watched or stalked by any other.

- Some players have recently acted as if they held positions of authority within FunTrivia. Except for appointed volunteer moderators and editors, players should not in any way attempt to represent FunTrivia or speak in the name of editors, administrators or the site.

We do value and encourage suggestions and we are open to contributions, but ask that you make them through the proper channels:

- If you suspect foul play of any sort or have disruptive behavior to report, do so in private to an administrator, moderator or editor or use the site feedback mechanism. Doing so in public or even to other players is strictly prohibited. Provide your initial evidence (the reason why you got suspicious), but do not attempt to conduct your own investigations. Site administrators have powerful tools and extensive experience in tracking suspicious play and we can usually very quickly tell one way or another.

- If you simply want to make a suggestion, you can put it on the Feedback thread on the forums, on the general (or authoring) boards or privately message it to a staff member.

- If you want to make a major contribution, such as running a game in the author lounge or
providing riddles for a challenge, please send your ideas to Wesleycrusher (for games) or Kyleisalive (for authoring).

We will in the future enforce these rules more tightly than we did in the past and if we find that some members consistently exceed their boundaries, we may take appropriate measures to protect others from harassment.

Thanks!
