Godwit: "oops, it happened again. I choose a category, wrote the question, then on the "check to see if the question exists" page I got a message my question is too long. The only option I'm given is to return to the Home Page. When I click on that link, my question is gone." When you get that message, if you hit the back button in your browser (not the return to the Home Page option), you will see your previous screen. You can then copy the question and paste it in a word processor, where you can fiddle with it and use the word count (symbols including spaces) to make sure it will fit. Your limit is 250 characters. I actually find it easier to write the question in a word processor and make sure it is not too long before I even open the new question screen. Of course, that can also be frustrating if I spent some time on a question that turns out to be a duplicate! Reply #23. May 27 18, 10:38 PM |

I wonder if Freud and the boys would find anything psychologically significant in our choices of nouns? Reply #26. May 28 18, 12:39 AM |

Godwit-- it seems that 'macrophage' was taken as a selection before you claimed it. Reply #27. May 28 18, 12:47 AM |

Godwit: "oops, it happened again." You don't need to write a full question to check if there's something similar already online. I put three or four key words in the box to see what comes up before I waste too much time putting my own masterpiece together. I don't feel quite so disappointed then when my brilliant idea has already been used and can decide on a different angle. Reply #29. May 28 18, 1:26 AM |

Thanks Looneytunes for the tip, also. So nice to get some steers so I stop doing things the hard way. I see macrophage was taken a good hour before I claimed it. Sorry about that. Well let me know what happens, in that case. I am rather fond of my question. Reply #35. May 28 18, 11:10 AM |

The spiders collect them and send them off to analytics. See if you get some Foghorn ads!? Reply #37. May 28 18, 11:25 AM |

Godwit-- your question should still be submitted. You did write it, after all. But you will need to claim another from List A to even it out. Reply #38. May 28 18, 11:56 AM |
