Oh joy of joys! This is perfect, Mark! Thank you so much for creating this Blog. I just love what you've done to the place, too! Mind if I spin around? Sometimes, a girl just needs to spin...

I just played another Expert game.
I think I've got that timer in my head to count backwards from 100 seconds, now all I need to do is get all 15 correct.
Then I would be all set.

You're doing way better than me, I just can't catch a break with the Expert topics lately. I'm stuck at Tier 2.
Yesterday saw my favourite subject - Dog Breeds - at 1:45am my time, and we had to be up at 4, so I missed it. And I know it's Expert, but doesn't it seem since everyone started shooting for the Symposium that the questions have suddenly gotten crazy difficult? Or is that just me and my foggy brain?

No, the questions have become crazy difficult. I played "Wizard Of Oz" (the movie) and I couldn't believe some of those questions. I thought that was one I would have in the bag, but no.

I've watched this same ad tonight five times, and only just realized it's for "Westworld" -- I don't know what I thought it was, but not that!

Is anyone watching this? It was great the first season, and this season is completely nuts, but in that really good way. But I'm going to run out of space on my DVR again.

It's not just you, I agree, they do seem more difficult. Or maybe it's because we are playing so many more than we used to play.

I remember Stephanie talking about Westworld last season. I haven't seen this newer version. I remember the movie version, with Yul Brenner, James Brolin, and Richard Benjamin, it was outstanding!

I just checked the Expert upcoming topics, I like 4 out of the next 6, not gimmes, only 2 gimmes, but the other 2 look promising. I'm sitting on 4 qualified right now.

No, I only play the ones I like, and think I might stand a chance. They're definitely harder.

Westworld, the TV series, is outstanding! It's not too late to catch up, I don't think.

I covered season 1 of Westworld in my blog Science Fiction Interpretations. The principal difference between the 1973 movie with Yul Brynner and the HBO series is point of view. In the movies, you identify with the human characters (played by Richard Benjamin and James Brolin) as they deal with robots gone wild (most notably the Gunslinger, played by Yul Brynner, who is an early model for "The Terminator".) But in the HBO series, a lot of time and effort is devoted to getting viewers to sympathize with the hosts (robots or androids) and be leery of the humans and their machinations. A series can obviously devote much more time to its subject than a movie can, so the series gets into some very deep philosophical issues. I'm not going to be too premature in my analysis of the second season (as there are still three episodes left to air), but the multiple timelines and switches between real world, park worlds, and virtual reality make it very dangerous to assume what is real and what is not at this point in the second season. I may get back to it but in my blog later. For example, I'm suspicious that this season's Man in Black (the closest thing that the HBO series has to the Yul Brynner character in the original movie), who is known as William and is played by Ed Harris, may be an android who has had the consciousness of the original William (who may now be dead) implanted in him. Pure speculation at this point, so I will wait before I say any more that could make me look more like a fool later.

Hello people, I was just finishing my Duels when I saw the note from Elle about this new blog. I can only hope we keep it under control and have a nice meaningful blog. Of course we will bust on each other but it's always in jest. Going out to dinner with my softball buddies, catch you later.

Did anyone else get the random dentistry question in duels topic European War today? No relation to the topic at all, absolutely nothing in the question to connect it to European War.

Just bombed in Expert - Animals In Literature. Four of my questions were about dragons, one a phoenix, and another, a war novel where the featured regiment was The Imperial Eagles.
In my humble opinion, none of those belonged in said category. Much as I desperately wished to meet at least one as a child, I'm fairly sure that dragons weren't a real animal.......

Marc, that's what I keep telling them when they call me at home while I'm eating my dinner. I play softball and they call me while I'm playing. I guess I gotta learn the "no" word.
