Subject: Chvonn, An Urban Mouse

What an amazing, sweet, charming little book I've just finished reading, about the world from a young mouse's point of view, told in a collection of tales to his rodent friends and family. It has inspired me to start this blog, where people can tell their own stories of things that made them see the world in a different way. Any story is good - sad, funny, inspirational, exciting, traumatic, cute, weird - whatever you think will interest others.
Open to all, but please tread lightly on each other's bared souls.

It's gonna be a tie for the Blue Ribbon.

Yes, Sectant, your memory is sound. My Father, Joseph, had to catch 22 flights to the UK to bring Major Major home. A serious dilemma, but as he said, "That's some catch, that Major Major."

"It's the best there is," I agreed.

What is the criteria for earning the world renowned and highly coveted Blue Ribbon?

Well, Mark, like any Blog, I just read the rules and posted what was, for me, an inspirational story. Like any Blog unless you change the rules and don't tell anyone, that is.

But this isn't my Blog, this is Jo's Blog, so maybe she can answer more fully.

I'm still working on my poem. Who knew poetry was this easy? I am wildly inspired about the poem I am going to post! I want to win that coveted ribbon again this week.

If I told you how to figure out the puzzle it'd be cheating.
The instructions are in the intro. And the prize itself is a clue. I'll write another tale of my own soon, busy day today :-)

Show's how dumb I am, I didn't realize it was a puzzle.

It's very cryptic. But also not.

Try telling an interesting story; even if it doesn't crack the puzzle, it's still great to share and enjoyable for everyone to read.

I'm guessing the clues were in the cute little book that I have not yet read, that must be the catch...

You don't need to read it, only my description of it.

I just don't get it, I'd appreciate not being made fun of, because of it.

You don't "get" me repeating what you just said to me in your off the charts movies thread? It's just an expression. You've probably seen it dozens of times in here. It's a quote from "Pirates of the Caribbean." However, I don't think that's what you meant when you said it to me. Oh well.

Elle,
Why visit the movie thread, just to make fun of it? Couldn't you have just walked away, if you thought that little of it?
When I said that I didn't get it, I was referring to the cryptic nature of the blog.
I was actually trying to play nice on Jo's blog, I just don't understand what it's all about, particularly after your catch-22 poem.
I wasn't playing dumb, I don't get it (the blog), or the poem.
Mark

It's currently raining, and in summer around here it tends to come down in sheets.

Reminds me of when I was in rehab, and one of the physical therapists was talking about the storm.

The grass was dry and crackling under people's feet when they walked.

So she said (I forget her name, not that it really matters:) "The grass is probably like, 'O yay... rain,' and then it comes down and it's like, 'oh.'

As people say around here, there's either a drought... or a flood.

I don't want to see this Blog die, just because someone doesn't "get" how it works.

I don't have a story quite yet, but I'm working on one, so I'm bumping this back up. I'll bet I could write a poem in about 15 seconds, though, following the guidelines for other poems I've read. Look how great my last one was. Or don't.

A Poem By Elle

if i had
$1,000,000
i could not only sing
about it
like "the barenaked ladies" but
i could also
retire or so i
thought until i
realized i have
$1,500,000 and when
i spoke
with my
investment advisor
recently
in rapt and
blessed excitement
and sureness
he assured me i
really
need $2,000,000 now
in order to
live off the interest on
my investments
so
no new songs for
me
or the ladies
clothed or otherwise
(punctuation, full stop)
time to
sell the farm
in more ways
than one

Another Poem By Elle

i wonder how all
the bat lovers
out there
would feel about
discovering
a bat flying through
the cabin
of your airplane
at a cruising
altitude
of 37,000 feet
with no way
to escape
for you or
the bat?
if i had
been on that
plane
they would still be
trying to drag me
or coax
me
out from under
my seat.
do items in your
cellphone camera
appear larger than
they really are?
that looks like one
fast and enormous
flying rodent and
based on the
screaming
no one even thought
about
building it a house.
were they all
treated for
rabies
after that emergency
landing?
if you think they
just let that
bat go
that didn't happen
but it sounds nicer
i suppose. i mean
bats are people
too
except they're not,
not really and not where erratic
behavior is concerned.
bye-bye bat
