Subject: Passing of sretlaw1

Posted by: Creedy
Date: Jan 20 19

I have another query - a sorrowful one this time, and am not sure where it should go.

I have to report to the FT authorities who handle this type of sadness regarding profiles, that player sretlaw1 (Larry Walters) of the Poetic license team, who has been a member of FT since 2006, passed away on the 19th January 2019.

Larry has had a terrible illness for the past few years, but fought it and fought it, refusing to give in, always remaining cheerful and remarkably interesting and intelligent to converse with over the time I've known him.

On the 19th though, it finally proved too much for him, and this gallant and brave man finally succumbed. I feel really distressed. He didn't deserve such a cruel ending. He was a true gentleman - and a friend.

Can you please mark his profile accordingly? I hope wherever Larry is in this universe that his spirit is contented, that he has somehow managed to relocate the love of his life, and that he's in the peak of physical condition, easily outrunning the fittest of angels, never tripping, never falling and always, always winning.

Cheers, mate.

Rest in peace, Larry. I never knew him but just reading the post, he sounded a wonderful, brave and lovely guy and a real fighter. I'm glad he's no longer in pain.

I thank you all, and the people who sent private notes, for your very kind words - I SINCERELY mean that - but it's not about me. It's about Larry. His courage was inspirational. I just wish his had been a gentler passing.

I hate that awful hollow feeling that is all that remains when a friend has gone forever. It leaves an unanswered echo in the soul.

And it always makes me stop and think that we do only pass this way but once. We need to plant more gardens. The opportunity to be kinder to someone else, even for a moment, even a word, or a smile, is one, then, that should never be missed. It costs nothing to plant that seed. Who knows what a flower it could produce.

So very sorry for your loss. Even if I did not "meet" Larry here on FT, every time I hear about someone passing away here I feel a deep sadness. Thank you for your beautiful words (very welcome at a time when ugliness seems so prevalent), and a big hug to you from the chilly US.

Epitaph On A Friend - Robert Burns

An honest man here lies at rest,
The friend of man, the friend of truth,
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm'd,
Few heads with knowledge so inform'd;
If there's another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.

So sorry for your loss. The Reaper has kicked my door 3 times in the past few months. It's beginning to get very upsetting.
