Earlier this week my best friend on Fun Trivia and in the Southern Hemisphere Wendy Pymont, died. She was preparing to go to a pub quiz which was one of her few pleasures. Wendy had numerous medical problems and had recently been in hospital. She wrote some great quizzes for Fun Trivia (especially her movie quizzes). Some years ago she had to give up quiz writing because of her deteriorating eyesight but after a lot of cajoling from me and effort from her, she finally wrote two more quizzes in January 2019. She will be greatly missed by me and the rest of the Misplaced team but her quizzes will remain to be played.

I was very sorry to hear this news. I've been working with Wendy since early in 2011 when she started to write quizzes - a lot of her quizzes were in my categories. It was so nice, in the last month, to see that she'd started to write again. She was a valuable part of our community, and will be missed. Wen was just lovely. I was so sad to hear of her passing. I'll miss talking to her. Her quizzes were excellent. Wen was the primary carer for her much loved husband who was suffering from a long term illness for years. Though tiring at times, it was a task carried out with absolute love and devotion. To me, she epitomised the marriage vow. She and Bernie have known each other for quite some time. I know he's very upset at her loss and the manner of her passing, but more than anything else, that he has lost a friend. To me, they epitomised true friendship. So, for Wen and Bernie: “The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers and cities; but to know someone who thinks & feels with us, and who, though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden.” Reply #9. Thank you for all of your kind messages, Wendy had a lot of friends on Fun Trivia and loved receiving letters from players of her quizzes. With all of her medical problems she had to give up quiz writing three years ago but with some cajoling and her determination she left us with two new quizzes in January. She will still be with us for years to come through her quizzes being played by old and new members. I had the privilege of getting to know Wen through Bernie's team The Misplaced. We exchanged many notes and she was always so candid and genuine. Her quizzes were just the same: unpretentious fun. We had some great laughs on the team board, and I looked forward to what she was going to post so I could try and keep the jokes going. Her health was faltering and I really missed her in the team. We still sent personal messages now and again but it was never the same really. I know Bernie is really going to miss her as they were so close, and I will too. She was proper top drawer. Reply #17.
