I think BJ Honnicut was the worst casting in history. I wondered if Alan Alda wanted all the laughs and picked someone without comic timing or comic skills.

Mike Farrell was just right as BJ.

I liked the Trapper in the original movie better than Wayne Rodgers on the TV show.

BJ and Hawkeye were a good team and Mike Farrell was very empathetic in his portrayal.

Dire is right. B.J. is a fine foil for Hawkeye; very different from Trapper, but that's not a bad thing. Also, because of the length of time B.J. was on the show as opposed to Trapper,, B.J. was able to develop more as a character.

Yes, I remember some good BJ centered episodes about his family that were really good.

Comes in handy for all the MASH questions on here. :)

I thought Mike Farrell did a fine job. He and Alan Alda made a good team. I loved Trapper, but they didn’t let the character develop much.
