Loads! I love scary movies. Anxiously awaiting the second part of the new "IT" movie, off to the cinema to see it tomorrow night! My favourite scary movie is probably "Jaws" because I saw it first when I was 4 and no movie has ever scared me that much since. I loved "Mirrors", "Mama", "The Ring", "The Omen", "Orphan" and lots more. I prefer suspense, a great storyline and an original twist to gratuitous gore and violence. Reply #3. Sep 06 19, 3:58 AM |

Well, the second part of IT was epic! Got out of the cinema at 3:30 am feeling very satisfied that they made a much better job of it this time round. :-) Reply #4. Sep 08 19, 5:52 AM |

Thanks for your opinion, Jo! The hope is I see IT: Chapter 2 this weekend and it's good to hear you enjoyed it! The original TV movie of IT gave me nightmares for weeks when I was very young. I saw many horror movies at a young age and despite the nightmares, I loved them! Night of The Living Dead is a masterpiece. Halloween is an absolute classic! 28 Days Later is my favorite movie of all time. Reply #5. Sep 10 19, 8:25 AM |

My sister and I used to get packed off to bed so our parents could watch horror movies, but we'd sneak into the upstairs landing and watch through the window above the living room door. Consequently, we only heard the very loudest parts of the soundtrack - suspense music and screaming, mostly! - and would have to guess what was going on. I had soooooo many nightmares as a kid! Your story is the mirror image to mine! No joke, my sister and I would also sneak behind my parents when they watched scary movies after we were sent to bed! Ha! Reply #7. Sep 11 19, 11:47 AM |

We're so naughty! Ive always loved a good horror movie, I've watched so many that they hardly ever scare me anymore. I love it when I find one that does! If anyone has any recommendations....? Reply #8. Sep 12 19, 3:02 PM |

You guys are evil, bloodthirsty villains. You stop that! :-p The most terrifying movie I've ever seen was The Spooky Old Ghost Who Lived in the Big Creepy House. No, seriously, I'm sure this isn't exactly the scariest movie ever made, but I found The Changeling with George C. Scott to be a very fascinating film. It just seemed to be more realistic than most ghost story films that I've seen. You know, it didn't make me sit there and go, "Oh, yeah, right, I am like SO SURE that's really gonna happen!" It made me feel like something like that really could happen for real. One movie I saw more than 40 years ago still gives me nightmares to this day. It's called The Big Spooky Monster. Not really, I'm just clowning again. You know what gets me about some horror films? Like say some guy is out in the woods on some lonely dirt road and a big spooky monster starts coming after him. There is very thick woods on both sides of the road for him to run into to get away from the big spooky monster, but where does he run? Right straight down the middle of the road while he's constantly looking back over his shoulder in stark raving terror as the big spooky monster closes in on him. Reply #9. Sep 12 19, 7:06 PM |

Sadwings, you’re such a kidder! I was about two seconds away from looking up to see if I could rent the movie “The Spooky Old Ghost…” took me a second to realize you were just kidding. Your talk of the head-scratching decisions by horror movie victims reminded me of the movie Scary Movie, have you ever seen it? Jo, I am so excited! I will consult the biggest horror movie fan I’ve ever known (my sister, haha) and we’ll have a big discussion about some good movies to recommend! And vice versa! I compare my sister and myself to tigers. We may get startled at a jump scare (we’re only human!) but we rarely get scared. So if you have any in mind, please share as well! Reply #10. Nope, I've never seen Scary Movie but I think I remember seeing some previews on it when it first came out. Well, Jen, it looks like I'm right on time if you are looking to be terrified right out of your mind. I have a list of 5 movies that scared me so badly when I first saw them that I couldn't even remember the names of them. However, after a bit of research involving the names of some of the stars and perhaps what the films were about, I was able to track these movies down and get the titles. These have got to be among the most terrifying films ever made, Jen. If you want to watch any of them, I think I would probably advise anyone at all to not dare watch them alone, especially not late at night when the monsters come out. Anyway, here are the 5 masterpiece horror films that are probably a big part of the reason why I am just really not right in the head... The Creepy Cemetery That Made Weird Noises Late at Night The Haunted Castle That Had Ghosts in it From People Who Had Died There The House That Had One Room Where The Light Went On and Off by Itself The Big Ugly Villain That Went Around Killing People and Just Being Mean to Them The Man Who Was Bitten by a Scary Monster and Then He Turned Into the Same Kind of Scary Monster That Bit Him The Vampire Who Broke His Coffin and Couldn't Fix it Because He Didn't Have the Tools and Couldn't Have Anyone Else Fix it Because He Couldn't Figure Out How He Was Going to Explain Why He Had a Coffin in His Bedroom Now I'm scared out of my stark raving mind just from writing that! :-( Reply #11. I’m here to vouch for sadwing’s movies! The House That Had One Room Where The Light Went On and Off by Itself gave me nightmares for weeks! It still sends shivers down my spine :) By the way, sadwings, Scary Movie is a raunchy, R-rated movie that is pretty funny if you’ve seen a lot of horror movies. I sent you a scene I thought you’d enjoy! Here are some more winners: Bobby, Is That You? This Isn’t Funny The One Where The Villain Doesn’t Die Part 12 The Haunted House That Keeps Killing People But They Still Keep Coming Anyway I Lost My Shoe Running From The Monster Reply #12. Jo, I bugged my sister for some suggestions. Near the end I pushed her for more “scary” movies and I feel bad because I apparently mislead her in what kind of list you were looking for. I asked her to sleep on it and get back to me. She was very excited to come up with some ideas! For now, here’s a random list of movies she came up with that had good suspense and not a ton of gore. Bear in mind, we aren’t sure what you’ve seen yet, but here’s a start. I haven’t seen all of these so hopefully her suggestions don’t disappoint: The Sentinel Body Snatchers (1993) Don’t Look Back When A Stranger Calls Back Bruiser Night of the Comet Demons Panic Room The Shallows Devil Insidious Paranormal Activity The Babadook Candyman Creepshow 1 and 2 Cat’s Eye Phenomena If you find even just one movie you enjoy, then my sister will be happy!
