Subject: FunTrivia 'Virtual Events' author drive

Staying at home during these times is vital so you won't contract the Coronavirus or, if you already have it (get well soon!) don't pass it on.

However doing so also has the disadvantage that it cuts people off from doing and experiencing things together.

That's where we all come in: Write a quiz (preferably a photo quiz with some of your own shots of course, but that's not required) to invite everyone along to some place or event we can't go to right now. Visit a national park, enjoy a day at the fair, go to a concert, shop your favorite mall, dine at a fancy restaurant - anything like that. Make it about something you personally enjoyed very much and make sure you get across that you had a lot of fun, so others can laugh and enjoy with you.

We have thousands of members and hundreds of authors - if everyone contributes even only one quiz to this, we'll quickly have several days' worth of places and events to attend.

All contributors will receive this Gateway to the World link https://www.funtrivia.com/challenges.cfm?id=-199 as a special thanks and to keep us connected during these times.

We're in this together...

The golden days of summer camp are about to be recalled. Unfortunately, no pictures of my own from 50 years ago, but some timeless activities to enjoy!

Wes, does it have to be about one particular place/country or can it be a mixed themed quiz?

Laughter and fun, eh? I gotta think about whether I have any of that in my photo stack...I'm a rather serious not-fun tourist. Maybe there's something funny close to home...

Do perhaps remind people what using their own photos entails. We did get a big long training session and lots of practice, for the privilege of shooting. It's exciting and creative stuff.

I have the same question as zorba_scank. I am planning to write a photo quiz on ten different cities. Or should the quiz focus on only a particular city?

"The golden days of summer camp are about to be recalled."

They don't have to be! :-)

Umm, I can't believe that I'm going to ask this but...can we work on more than one photo quiz at a time?

My "In Light.." idea for a photo quiz just became relavant again. ;-)

Direwolf, if you can set up multiple templates at once, they can all be photo quizzes if you want. But I recommend working on them one at a time, and sorting out the various issues you may encounter on the first one so that you can avoid creating the same issues for yourself on future ones,

Does it matter that I don’t have the ability to write photo quizzes?

No it don't matter. I don't even one quiz written.

Licence to shoot is on hold for now. Just go enjoy writing some quizzes.

zorba / Matthew - the preference would be to focus on one destination or activity, but if you have a theme to a mixed quiz, you can probably make it work, e.g. by presenting it e.g. as a round trip.

I already have an idea for a quiz on a place I love very much. Time to start collecting photos!

If anybody is working on a quiz that they need specific photos for and can't find them, send me a note.

I have hundreds of pictures that would be happy to be out there in the world being seen. :-)

There are several websites that have free pictures that are allowed to be used without citation. Are there any guidelines from FT about which we are allowed or not allowed to use? Maybe the guidelines pop up when I select a photo quiz? I found some beautiful free pictures on unsplashed.com but am not sure if such sites are allowed.

I have an idea for a photo quiz but I don't have nearly enough photos that don't have family in them worthy of a quiz photo.

Might take me a few weeks. I am working now more than ever.

Like I said up there, if you need some photos let me know. If I don't have what you need, it doesn't take long to create some.

@BigTriviaDawg: if we don't use our own photos (and I don't, because I am not much of a photographer :D), we can use those that are tagged as Public Domain or Creative Commons: Attribution. Pixabay, which has its own license, is also good to use. Wikipedia has a lot of photos under the Share Alike license, but those cannot be used on FT.

I went on holiday to Munich a few years ago and took a load of photos. I should be able to find a few that don't have me or my mum in them.

I'm an outcast, just like on here...ha ha!

So I don't take photos of people much.

Mine are ready to go with very little cropping needed. ;-)

And I forgot to tell you thanks for the Naruto quizzes. The puppet users are some of my favorite characters on there. The fight with Satori and Sakura was amazing.

If anyone is thinking of doing a Movies quiz, for this challenge, or any other reason, please remember this, from Movies Specific guidelines:

"For photo quizzes, no screenshots from movies or recognizable faces please."

Some older movies are, indeed, in the public domain, but screen shots from them are still not acceptable.

For anybody trying a photo quiz for the first time, I very strongly recommend reading everything on this page carefully. It will answer most of your questions, and point you toward trusted websites you can use.
