Subject: Very sad news for the Mossbacks

Posted by: Barbarini
Date: Aug 14 20

I am heartbroken to tell you that one of our dearest members, knud77, has passed away. He loved this site so much. He had retired from the New York police department a number of years ago and found a new - and much less hazardous - vocation in playing trivia. He was very proud to consider himself an International Trivia Player. A lovely man. He will be so missed.

RIP Judder.

I didn't know him. But you can feel empathy for the sadness and pain that has touched his family and friends hearts.

Knowing that he was thought of, will bring comfort to his wife and help her get through her sorrow.

I am genuinely saddened to learn this unhappy news. As a former teammate I recall Judder being among the first to make me feel welcome when I arrived. He was a regular fixture on the leader boards of some of my favorite games here (most notably Expert and CB) and a tireless Mossbacks cheerleader.

I still feel badly about our last contact when he was encouraging me (and the rest of the team) to play more, even as I'd already made the decision to depart the team. I just didn't have the heart to tell him because I knew he'd be disappointed.

I know knud77 will be sorely missed by the Mossbacks and I offer my sincere condolences to the team. Please know he will be missed by this former Mossback too.

Godspeed, Judder.

I did not know him well but we crossed paths/exchanged notes a few times and he was always nice. Judging by the outpouring in here, I am wishing I'd gotten to know him better.

Condolences to his friends and family for your loss

Very sad news. But, has his account been closed? I wanted to take a peek at his stats since they've been mentioned a few times in this thread, and using every variation on his name I could find in this thread, I still get the message that there is no such member when I try to look him up.

Never mind, it finally came up for me. And now I remember seeing him around the site after seeing his avatar.

His account is still there. Have you tried searching for his username via your own profile? Sometimes player profiles don't come up via the main search.

My condolences to the Mossbacks, to Knud77's family, and to all his friends; it's a sad loss to the FT community.

A few years ago, the Pi-eaters set up photos on a common site to share with other teammates. Knudder posted one of him and his wife in formal wear, and they were dancing.
That is how I will remember him.
RIP.

I've just seen this and am saddened to hear this news. We had a chat every so often. Another pleasant - and heroic - person gone.

It is a sad loss for all of us, flopsy. We texted every day, chatted about nothing and everything. Such a funny, sweet man.

Thanks all of you for your notes of condolence. I'll send them to his wife. She'll love reading them.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to post that Knud's wife has been in touch and is planning two services to celebrate his life, one in St. Louis on October 30th and one in NY on November 13th. She would have arranged these sooner had it not been for COVID.

He was on the NY police force for many years, then moved to St. Louis after retirement when his wife was transferred there through work. If any of you knew him and would like to attend either event, please send me a PM with your email address so that details can be forwarded to you. Thanks!
