Subject: Vanishing question

Posted by: Catreona
Date: Aug 25 23

Though my most recent new question has been accepted and shows up as such, a question resubmitted on August 11 has vanished. For a while it was listed as in the cue, but for some time now it has simply been gone.

I'm concerned that having a question in limbo might negatively impact my question count, especially with all the work currently going on behind the scenes.

Can you send me some info about it - category and roughly what it's about - and I'll see if I can find it from this end?

And I'm assuming you checked that an editor didn't send it back for changes.

It hasn't come back or generated a correction note. It is in World, and it concerns January Sixth, 2021.

Not an editor in that category, but the topic on its own raises a big red flag in my mind as a can-of-worms subject with clear political concerns that really would cause more grief than not. We try to avoid questions about the more vitriolic and current political discourse (especially while there's ongoing history being made about it) because despite best intentions, it will rile people up.

Hi Catreona, I seem to recall that question being resubmitted after being taken offline for changes. Have you checked the location of it based on when it was originally submitted? As far as I am aware, since the question was resubmitted, it doesn't appear as a new question on your list. You might have to go back to the original date to see it listed. If you can't find it at all, we can try something new.

So, Kyle, what does that mean vis a vis my vanishing question? It was in the cue for a while and then just disappeared with no word from any editor and no way for me to trace it.

Thanks, Trident. We must have been writing at the same time.

Awesome, glad you found it! Sometimes the site isn't straightforward.
