Welcome to the Chatboards!

The following notes are intended to help you find your way round a bit and answer some queries about how to find things; we hope you find them useful.

1. General Layout

The basic layout for most Chat pages is Main Menu on the left, Board Menu or Thread content on the right. The main link to Chat from other parts of the site will always take you to the board menu for the General Board. This is where there's a lot of chatter about badges, how to play various games, how to fix things, etc. so it's a good place to start. When you find the topic you want to comment on, click to see the thread content - this will open at the most recent post on the subject. If you want to add to the discussion, click on "reply".

2. Main Menu

On computers and in Landscape mode in most other devices, you should see the features listed below in a menu on the left-hand side of the page. If you are using a cell/mobile phone, and some other devices, in Portrait mode, some of these features will be available via a dropdown menu.

3. Topic List

Whatever section you're in, clicking on that link will take you to the list of threads in that section.

4. Search

You can search for a topic in the board you're currently in. If you can't find it in that board, go to another likely option and try there. You can also search for threads posted by other users. You don't always need to type a full word, name, or title. We've restricted the search to this limited functionality because it will keep the load on the server down.

5. Replies/Active/Stats

Recent Replies, Most Active Recent Threads, Most Frequent Posters

6. Post New

Click here to post a new thread. In other words, to open a whole new topic that will appear in the board menu. Make sure you're in the right board! Also, please check to see if there are any previous threads about your topic - you can use search for this. If there is a previous thread that is closely related to what you want to say, please use that instead of creating a new one.

7. List of Boards

The General Chat is essentially where users talk about things of specific relevance to players. For example, this board is the place for issues relating to timed games, challenges, points, etc., and to players' experiences on FunTrivia. There's also a thread for new players to introduce themselves.

The Author Lounge provides a place for users who write, or are interested in writing, quizzes to talk to other authors, ask questions, and to interact with Editors who can give advice, clarify issues, and provide support. The Lounge also has regular challenges for authors, such as writing quizzes on particular topics, earning specialist badges, and so on.

Most of the other boards cover topics which have some relation to the subject areas covered by quizzes on FunTrivia but the boards have been grouped together in a more generalised way. There is also a board that allows users to write tributes to players who we know have passed on and the Virtual Blogs allow users to express their thoughts on issues unrelated to trivia. The last board in this group is for Team Leaders to post information relevant to players who might wish to join, or switch, teams.

8. Your Rank Board

As part of the Prestige ranking system, you will be able to participate in different boards as you progress, to chat, and share tips and advice with other players with a similar Rank. You'll find a link to your current board here; there is also a link to it at the top of various pages about the Prestige system.
