Subject: Yugoslavia?

Currently writing a quiz and one of the answers has something to do with Yugoslavia's Eurovision win in 1989. Since Yugoslavia no longer exists, would it be acceptable to write that it's the only time they won?

It might be a safer bet to say the only time Yugoslavia won in the 20th century. Though unlikely, it is theoretically possible that Yugoslavia could reform in the future.

I'd just send it as it is. Yugoslavia dissolved decades ago. If it changes, it doesn't change that they had the win and we can broach the unlikeliness if it happens.

In most instances where a question could theoretically go stale because of the use of the word "only", I switch to the wording "first". If you would write for instance that Belgium won the Eurosong festival for the first time in 1986, the question would never go stale.
Yugoslavia may indeed be worth using "the only time", but there are always exceptions.

You could safely say it was the only time they won before the country broke apart.

Even in the unlikely event that a country of this name might ever exist again, that would remain true.

Or, along the same line as Wes, you could say that it was the first time that they'd won
