Subject: Poor ratings on quizzes

Posted by: Lord_Digby

Question! I was just wondering why players don't rate many of the quizzes they play. If they take the time to play, why not rate the quiz when they have finished?

I checked some of the latest quizzes that have just been put on line, and it's quite poor the amount of ratings there are. After all the effort and time to write new quizzes for members, it's quite frustrating. Even if you didn't like the quiz, rate it as you found it. I rate all the quizzes I play. Anyway, just a thought!

it is a bit strange!
i make a point of rating, it's always nice to get feedback!

Agree - why wouldn't you rate a quiz? It takes seconds and pays you 20 points. If you're doing lists or challenges it can add quite a lot to the total.

As I recall, only Gold members can rate every quiz they play. Non-gold members can only rate a certain number of quizzes (100?) and guest players cannot rate at all. I am not sure whether they see the option or not, but any rating from them is not registered.

Sometimes I forget to rate quizzes. Sometimes I intend to go back and read the info and rate the quiz. But the wretched browser on this miserable phone has closed the window. I hate this phone.

I only rate a certain number 0f quizzes per day because I find I get jaded and harsher the more I play. I dont think it is fair to grade something average just because I'm tired. The next day I might rate it excellent.

As a non-Gold member, I see the option to rate a quiz every time, but yes, not 20 points. I usually rate each quiz, but sometimes I do forget. :)

Sometimes I don't rate them if I need a certain number of points for a daily challenge. Otherwise I always rate.

Backing up what looney_tunes described. The discrepancy between the number of times played and the number of times rated is because only Gold member ratings count and non-Gold only to a point.

Also if you score too low on a quiz, I don’t think it counts. You get a “Thanks” message rather than 20 points. I think this is probably fair, if true, as I imagine there is some sort of correlation between scoring very low and giving poor ratings.

Not only do I rate every quiz I take but I also avail myself of the little window provided to send the author a quick note, if there is something particularly notable about the quiz.

I always rate. Twenty points per quiz mounts up. And there's a badge for that too. But there is a cutoff - can't remember if it's two correct or three - after which the rating doesn't count. And, yes, this is a gold member thing to a greater or lesser degree. Having always been a gold member, I don't know the details and bow to the greater wisdom of others on the thread.

In general, except for extenuating circumstances such as Mira describes or a temporary need to keep a close eye on point count, it seems to me that rating whenever possible is a good habit to get into. Not only does it add to your point count, it helps the quiz maker. Remember, there are stars as well as a badge for earning Excellent ratings. It's good all around.
